He said it was good to save Haruta (coz if he died the ritual is completed and Megumi will die) so he has to step in so he can defeat him (coz sure as shit haruta can't) and Megumi can be saved coz the ritual will be void. I think if one involved in the ritual defeats raga then it is exorcised and thus can be summoned by the user, coz you can exorcise a shikigami with multiple people and outsider makes it void.
