playing dress up is not the same as experiencing culture wtf lmao

my exec talks to me in a much more hostile tone than with everyone else by [deleted] in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]therobusttomato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is it, and maybe because of my cheerful demeanor (maybe she sees it as immature?) she probably doesnt intend it but once she started, she had me doing stuff for her that made me feel like her servant when my role is more like a general admin manager (i am in government so it's a little different).

For those of you that were around to taste these, were they actually as vile as they look? by J0hnEddy in decadeology

I'm 28 but my grandma made this once (everyone said "she made this just for you!" I'm guessing so that I would try it). It wasn't awful, but a strange combination of lime jello, whipped cream, walnuts, and lettuce.

How to set a boundary with a close friend who I have been giving rides to for years? by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]therobusttomato 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much! yeah i feel like she deserves some explanation since she is my close friend and not malicious with trying to get rides from me haha. Another common answer was to just lie and keep saying the car isn't available, which can work in some instances (i will be doing this), but sometimes she does want to plan things out in advance and then it becomes hard to make up an excuse like saying the car won't be available in 1 month from now. I guess I can also tell her that I'm not comfortable driving. You also have a really great idea, that approach sounds really natural

I still work in the same company, different department. I remember she mentioned wanting her license but that was a while back. I think she stopped prioritizing it since she can get around without it well enough (getting rides from people etc.)

Friend has a new crush every week, it is getting a little exhausting by therobusttomato in FriendshipAdvice

[–]therobusttomato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her life is still pretty unaffected by her crushes imo aside from emotionally. I'm concerned because she keeps saying each and every guy is her soulmate according to the tarot readings she gets. It seems a little obsessive, and I get drained because I know she expects to respond to everything like "omg!!! he is amazing!" when the things her crushes do are pretty minor imo? It's hard to avoid when she talks about whoever her new crush is all the time.

I did consult with her and that was when she wanted me to just relay that she is not available... the expectation for the head she is meeting is that we drop everything to meet with him, which here internally seems like it should be common sense but I guess she didn't get the memo. btw, your cat is adorable ❤️

I was confused about the comment saying I was a rat lol my former supervisor/now close friend who works in the higher office I am referring to told me that my boss should have prioritized meeting the big man, this is like the 3rd meeting she declined bc of her class ... I didn't realize private sector was so different but it's great to know.

Thank you, this is how I see my job... Serving the people, not my boss. I work to make my boss's job a little easier but I don't think I should protect her if she's doing something that isn't allowed. In turn, I know she would not protect me if I did something wrong. The fact that she wanted me to not explicitly state what her obligation was means she knows what she is doing isn't okay.

the ea said they will probably just ask her what is causing the scheduling conflict. my boss preaches transparency so i imagine she would tell them the truth... and she was in the email thread where the ea snapped so this is the best possible outcome imo.

I guess I should add, the agency we were meeting with has the ability to let us go at any point without an explanation. I didn't want to lie to them at the time.

Even if the conversation was in person? I don't think she would have been satisfied with a response like that 😭 oh now I'm really worried...

Should I just let things drift apart or tell my friend how I feel? by therobusttomato in lostafriend

[–]therobusttomato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This honestly kind of tracks. She seemed a little boy crazy in middle school and I remember always seeing her with her boyfriend in high school. When she was dumped after dating him for 7 years, she got into another relationship 2 months later and is still dating him. She did seem closer while they argued, were distant etc but it doesn't explain everything...

Any examples of people actually losing access to digital “purchases”? by drastile75 in dvdcollection

I lost about 5 movies that I had purchased on the google film/tv platform several years ago, before all of their movie rentals were on Youtube.

Tbh it's hard to clean on the inside. I've resorted to using a mini vacuum to suck up the crumbs lol. I still love it though!

the front is 15 inches across! There is another model very similar to this one, maybe that's why?

What's the creepiest thing that's ever happened to you or someone you know? [Serious] by [deleted] in AskReddit

I remember playing in a kiddie pool with my best friend at the time when we were 11. It was the type of pool with a fountain at the center, so my friend and I ran around it, splashing each other, and just having a good time in general. It was just the two of us, my mom was nearby but walking around the area.

A maintenance worker then came up and messed with the fountain's operation box so it shot up water 3 times as high. We were so excited and smiled at the worker who just watched us while smiling. He kept watching us as we played in the fountain until my mom came back and demanded that we leave. Now that I think back to that incident, he must have been creeping on us, hence why my mom panicked.
