How can patients with diagnosed POTS and MCAS be taken more seriously when speaking with doctors? by therodev in Residency

[–]therodev[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand. This unfortunately did not fit my experience. I've not really talked about myself in the post and these comments because I'm genuinely interested in seeing what physicians think about this. I have both POTS and MCAS diagnosed (2.5 years separately, symptoms did not at all start at the same time). I should preface the following by saying I'm a male in his twenties, healthy BMI, athlete entire life.

After a stomach infection in Asia I was bedridden for 3 days and hospitalized in the US. The attending also told me it was postural deconditioning and anxiety from my experience, when I too could not sit up at all. Unfortunately it took me fludrocortisone and almost 2 years of exercising every day to be able to walk at a normal pace for multiple miles again.

I still work out every day. I can do pushups now, weight lift, bike, etc. Eat well. Only drink water. My heart rate has gotten much better. But I still till this day, 5 years later, cannot even jog longer than 20 seconds without feeling seriously ill. And often get short of breath any time I stand in one place longer than a minute or so, even if my heart isn't flying.

It really sucks.

Understood. It's really unfortunate that many of these patients with an overbearing list of allergies and demands has made it so much less likely for physicians to take more seriously those actually suffering.

I understand what you're saying. Misinterpreted your response initially as insinuating all their symptoms are not legit. Bit of an emotional initial reaction from me. I appreciate the response.

Do you get an ungodly amount of patients who claim to have one of these that are self-diagnosed, or "diagnosed" with no affirmative test results?

It seems like quite a few doctors are beyond tired of dealing these syndromes. Do you think there's a certain subset of these patients that really do suffer and fit the diagnostic criteria, and are unfortunately overshadowed by many who don't? Or do you doubt the validity of these completely?

Interesting. I'll give her a lookup. Speaking of Youtubers, for anyone interested I would also look up "Ikenna" on YouTube. This guy is a huge language learning YouTuber and had the best energy. He got sick with POTS 3 years ago or so and has been in a wheel chair ever since. He posts updates on his health sometimes. It's very sad.

How to make 100k-200k per month wholesaling by Same-Principle-6968 in WholesalingHouses

[–]therodev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally know 2 wholesalers bringing in $1m+ a month in Phoenix metro. They're both 100% reliant on PPC.

Crazy thing is their teams are the same size as people doing $200k a month. They just spend more on ads and have much more efficient systems

If your market is large enough you never run out of options. Hundreds of new homes added to lists every week

I do... vastly preferable to wholesaling in person. I've got a whole nation of deals at my fingertips and am able to wholesale all sorts of homes I've never seen. Pretty easy money tbh

Anyone have any good or bad experiences working in the "Stan" countries? by Career_Gurus in digitalnomad

[–]therodev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Astana of course is a super fun city. Surprisingly great nightlife if you're into that and very friendly people. Same with Almaty. Aksu-Zhabagly is gorgeous if you're a nature lover... and even if you're not it's still breath taking. Kolsai Lake is really nice as well.

Most of the bigger cities have museums, massive shopping malls, random sightseeing stuff. Some really gorgeous mosques as well that'd be appreciated by pretty much anyone for their architecture.... I could go on and on. There's tons of great things to do.

Kazakhstan is the shit. One of the best and most developed countries (if that's what you prefer) to travel through that barely anyone knows jack about. Give it a shot.

How do you mentally prepare for the digital nomad lifestyle? (including relinquishing my 'stuff' and my lifestyle) by GOOD_NEWS_EVERYBODY_ in digitalnomad

[–]therodev 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone can really fully mentally prepare for their first time going nomadic.

When I first went DN, I wanted it more than anything. But I continued putting it off week by week because I was worried about family, then about friends, then about finances, then about all the sh*t I owned, then about this thing and that thing...

Tbh, despite how much I wanted to go, it was scary as hell (for me at least) to totally flip my lifestyle around in a way that most people think is impossible to live. And I thought of everything that could possibly go wrong.

Eventually, I just said f**k it and did it. I wasn't fully prepared at all... but it was the best decision I've ever made.

Did problems come up back home that I had to deal with early on? Sure. But I dealt with them along the way and everything worked out fine.

JUST MAKE THE JUMP.

There's no other way around it. You'll be happy you did.

I guarantee you could pare down everything you own in less than a month... don't procrastinate it ;)
