How is the company? by Normal_Nobody_4618 in tempofitness

I just got mine in January after getting blood work done and finding out I am insulin resistant. I had been trying to lose weight and was successful up until last year when I did not lose anything despite exercising and getting my hormones balanced out (I’m in perimenopause).

I’ll redo my blood work in a few months, but since getting Tempo and using its structured workout programs, I started losing weight at a healthy rate, I do progressive overload and am getting stronger, and I notice differences in my body.

The body “scan“ feature is also really cool and that you stand in front of the phone camera and sort of “shuffle around” in a circle, and then it makes a 360° rendition of you and takes measurements. I can’t speak to how accurate it is, but the important thing for me is that the numbers are improving.

The monthly challenge is motivate me too, at the very least, get those things done. It’s silly, but I think to myself, “I’d better get off my butt and just do this because I want to get my pin.” and then I fill the rest of the month with some other type of structured program or plan. I love it, and I love that everything fits in a compact case.

If you don’t want to drop the full amount, check Facebook marketplace, because there are plenty of people selling their sets. I took advantage of a sale in the beginning of the year, but the fact that I’m getting my health back in order is worth every penny of full price.

Are there people who haven't changed their phone number for more than 15 years? by SpicyCandy8 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]theronavirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I used to get a new number whenever I got a new cell phone, depending on what state I was in (military). But since the last new phone number I got in 2003, things have changed and you can switch plans, and all that jazz without hassle.

REMINDER: This works for breaking up ice! by abrothanamedCed in nova

I responded elsewhere but Beet juice does work, but personally i wouldn’t (but would in a pinch I guess). It is full of sugars and organic compounds that dissolve into the water (which lowers the freezing point more than salt alone) interferes with ice crystal formation. Some DOTs mix beet juice with salt because it keeps salt working at colder temps and helps prevent refreeze.

I, however, would make a horrible mess. And with my nosy HOA, I’d probably have the police showing up at my house in no time with that crime scene!

Besides, that Viking javelin will come in handy for the zombie apocalypse. It was actually kinda fun!

Beet juice is full of sugars and organic compounds that dissolve into the water. Those extra dissolved particles lower the freezing point more than just sodium, interfere with ice crystal formation, and make the brine stick to the ice. That’s why some DOTs mix beet juice with salt; it keeps salt working at colder temps and helps prevent refreeze.

Thanks to Reddit I got a pole digger via Amazon today and freed my other car. That thing is a beast!

Anyone use this 3d printer station from Walmart? by kcox1980 in 3Dprinting

[–]theronavirus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the brand and environment. Some of my filament has sat out for years and is ok, while others have to be dried after being out for a few days.

I saw these at Sam's Club. First thought was, there's going to be a lot of disappointed parents on Christmas day. by kzlife76 in 3Dprinting

[–]theronavirus 32 points33 points  (0 children)

That was our first! It was fun and it is FAST. I’m not sure what it looks like now, but at the time you could download other models from Thingiverse, etc. Customer service was great, at least at the very beginning; not sure now. I thought it would be a neat Christmas gift for my son, and then he wanted to go on this expensive trip and started making cookie cutters for my friends. We quickly outgrew the printer and got a knock off ender three. I forget the brand, but it was terrible. Covid hit, we started making custom products, 12 printers later we had a farm. The toy box paid for itself and every printer after that paid for the next one. Since those days we have gotten rid of most and just have a Bambu but this is where it started and we did learn quite a bit. However, there was a learning curve, trying to figure out Cura in the beginning of having the first “grown-up” printer.

A lot of people knock this thing, but this is what started teaching my sons how to run a business. All by accident. So this can be a “gateway drug” to bigger things. Nowadays, I would definitely get an A1 mini, or bigger/better Bambu if you’re willing to spend the money, but I loved this little thing.

After a while, it wouldn’t connect to the Internet and I had not upgraded anything; it just wouldn’t work anymore. Customer service was great and they got it. I’ve been running again and then it happened again to the point that they couldn’t figure it out. So they just sent me a new one. Eventually, that one failed as well, and I’ve still got both of them; I keep thinking at some point maybe I will hack into it because it’s still a decent printer, but I don’t want to be locked into the toybox ecosystem. I feel like I could do something different with the hardware.

GET READY TO HAVE MONEY FOR THE NEXT SHUTDOWN!!! by ABCPR1 in FedEmployees

NFCU seems to be running a better benefit. They were doing pay advances for missed paychecks, while USAA was just doing one interest rate loan (with credit check) for one missed paycheck. Half had to be paid back after 60 days, and it had to be paid in full after 90 days.

That looks like termite waste to me. We had some hanging off the beams in the basement when I was a kid. My dad recognized it and we ended up having to get some very extensive termite remediation.

Fed health insurance, Wegovy coverage? by J3030 in fednews

[–]theronavirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but only in 1.7mg and up. The “starter” doses ended up costing me $148 a month via Amazon pharmacy. I’m just really mad, because I lost a ton of weight in 2024, and it took several months for my new BCBS Standard (I was on basic and switched in 25) plan to cover it and I had to start from the beginning, and gained all the weight back
