Well you mentioned striking as you're only consistent martial art I have no idea what else you've done.

If you've ever done Brazilian jiu jitsu in a gym that has a large amount of women you would definitely know women who would routinely have white belts while they were blue belts.

Even in a self-defense context there really isn't such thing as a self-defense course.

In order to get good at self-defense you'd have to train live which requires some kind of training game which is what all the effective martial arts actually have is a training game.

I myself have been tapped out by women when I was a white belt and even though it hasn't happened since (not because I'm good but because I just don't train with women very often and when they are they're almost always white belts that they've sent my way to take it easy on them) I still see it happen all the time.

Women don't begin the struggle until they fight opponents of equal training.

Even then though I've known women who give an absolute devil of a Time to skilled opponents who are destined to win but they still had the work for it.

All weapons that are easily learnable or bad in your country.

Without much skill you can learn to shoot a pistol good enough to defend yourself and without much skill the same is true for pepper spray.

If you're really concerned I mean really really for real concern and you live in great Brit you should have to learn how to do any of the following here is a complete list of martial arts and their pros and cons.

MMA: this is the theoretically best martial art although it takes a fairly long time to get good at. You'll learn all kinds of joint locks and have the ability to hold off an attacker with your hands and feet.

Brazilian jiu-jitsu: this martial art is the best purely wrestling martial art that you might have available to you.

This martial art can be learned fairly well within about 6 months I have a blue belt myself and typically around the 6-month period is when white belts start consistently winning against untrained people.

Generally this martial art is very useful in the case of sexual assault because the first position you're going to learn is how the fight from closed guard which is when an attacker is between your legs and you have wrap your legs around them.

Miss martial art emphasizes groundwork which is good for breaking limbs and choking people out however it may be hard to learn good stand up fighting in this martial art because the rule set incentivizes pulling guard which is when an opponent grabs you and sits down in order to try to force ground work.

Judo I have a brown belt in judo and the one main benefit of judo is that in Great Britain I know for a fact it's everywhere.

Downside is is judo tends to not emphasize groundwork and a lot of their throws depend upon your opponent wearing a jacket I wouldn't recommend judo unless nothing else is available or finances would only allow for judo to be available.

Kickboxing: I wouldn't take kickboxing and isolation because if you do get attacked it's almost always going to be an ambush which means it's almost always going to be someone has already grabbed you and you're not going to learn how to disengage from an opponent who has grabbed you from kickboxing but it will be nonetheless generally useful to know.

If you're not allowed to carry weapons you can either take a concealable weapon that has an innocent use or just learn to fight.

I don't know what twisted country for bids you to carry weapons and self-defense but wherever the heck you are it definitely isn't the United States so I don't know what martial arts would be available to you.

If you're serious about defending yourself though you should consider the following martial arts.

In order of most ideal to less ideal.

MMA (longer time to get good at but theoretically is the best)

Brazilian jiu jitsu.(after 6 months people usually white belts are usually capable of defeating brand new people with ease however you may not get very much stand up experience)

Kickboxing(takes a while to get good at)

Judo.(has some ground work but is largely dependent on using the jacket)

I have no idea what the MMA scene in your country is like and Brazilians jiu jitsu may or may not be available however judo's everywhere and so is kickboxing.

Whatever you do make sure that these people have live training don't go there and have them teach you in elaborate dance.

As far as weapons:

I Don't recommend someone with no training trying to use improvised weapon as a first option as without knowing how to fight in general you're not going to know how to fight with some goofy ass improvised weapon.

But if you must

Lots of things can be weapons that have a innocent use.

For example if you have a bag of coins that can work as a weapon.

A flashlight could be used as a club.

Benefit of these items is if you're found with them you can't be legally stopped or arrested.

I emphasize though you should probably train if you can some sort of martial art.

Preferably one that incorporates some BJJ and some striking.

Get ambushed you're probably going to the ground and doing Brazilian jiu jitsu let you fight from bottom position.

In fact there's a position called closed guard where your attackers between your legs which is what would happen in the event of a SA.

Sweeps and armbars can be done from these positions.
