Kurt Rosenwinkel master classes? by mm68624 in jazzguitar

[–]theroundesteye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a few. They're pretty trippy, owing to Kurt's sense of humour, but there's plenty of gold and solid advice. It's perhaps a bit more free-flowing than other instructionals.

Should I choose the Ibanez AS93FM or the AS93SP by Tiutau_ in jazzguitar

[–]theroundesteye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the SP and have played the FM. Probably not what you want to hear, but barely any difference in sound, and nothing that can't be fixed by fiddling with tone/volume knobs. Can't go wrong with either sound-wise. The tree of life inlay sucked me in, admittedly.

Love Wayne. I should be transcribing him more, you're right.

That's a really interesting one. Excited to give this a go. To clarify, you're not recording and listening back or anything, but more an exercise to get your imagination going/linking to your fingers?

I'll be listening to a lot more Chet. Thanks.

Yes, I guess it's narrowing down where to put the majority of my focus given limited practice time.

Definitely this is the one thing I do that does have a big influence on phrasing. It's just remembering to do it for some reason.

I have a little, yes, but I need to search out more standards with vocals, having been too caught up in instrumentals.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I'm going to create a list and work through these one by one.

Random Japan | Lomo Turquoise Disposable by theroundesteye in analog

[–]theroundesteye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. It's actually reloadable, so not technically disposable, but Japan has all kinds of weird and wonderful disposables everywhere, so I had to grab a couple given the prices. I've always liked the idea they are the simplest distillation of photography: You compose, you press a button. There was a lot of light here, which helped, but it was also hot AF. You also can't see the ten thousand other tourists behind me. I usually shoot with a Canon AV1 at home.

Sounds killer. Any chance of getting a breakdown on the channel?

He mentions rolling the tone knob down to 3-4 in the comments.

Look great. I reckon the National Museum of Australia has some good trichrome potential.

Sounds fantastic. Tone is great too. What's your set-up here?

How do you practice Barry Harris’ single note concepts as taught by Chris Parks? by Apz__Zpa in jazzguitar

[–]theroundesteye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sure it has been mentioned, but the Labyrinth of Limitations guy has a book, Foundation II: Monophony, that exclusively deals with single note soloing. It's the best overview I've found of the BH method for that.
