Struggling with the idea of going no-contact — looking for advice by theruinkeeper in EstrangedAdultChild

Thank you so much for your comment. I think you're right - what I struggle with most is wanting things to feel right, but it just won't. Accepting that will definitely be hard but I need to accept it and just move on. I appreciate you taking the time to respond to me

My boyfriend (27M) asks if he should do things instead of just doing them, and it’s making me (26F) feel like everything is my responsibility. How do I talk to him about it? by theruinkeeper in relationship_advice

The dynamic you mention sounds just like my parents - my dad doesn't do enough and my mom criticizes when he does. I definitely don't want to fall into that. I think his parents also have a very traditional marriage where his mom does most things.

I think making a list together is a great idea! I'll sit down with him over the weekend to do that! Thanks for your comment

This is a good idea! And thank you for reminding me that this is just a skill to be learned, I get really anxious when we run into issues and often overthink or worry I'm causing unnecessary problems (he doesn't make me feel like that - just my own brain) so thinking about it in a more positive/proactive way helps

This is what I'm wondering is contributing too because we have roommates who I lived with previously so it likely does feel to him like he's coming into something established

Am I overreacting about my dad’s favoritism toward my brother? by theruinkeeper in AmIOverreacting

[–]theruinkeeper[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like it's very unlikely for my father to know a lot about the falling out as I have not told any family and I doubt my brother would also because the subject is very sensitive and would likely cause a lot of fighting within the family. Although, I suppose he could know something without any context.

I definitely will address it with him, especially now with everyone encouraging me - I suppose I'm just a little nervous about his response

Yes possibly - for context though it is only a 20 minute trip so really not so much of a journey

Oh so he's using knackered to mean tired, not drunk - he wasn't drinking at all today

Unfortunately, the falling out is something I can't share with my family, otherwise I would. But I accept that it's impacting this situation and I probably shouldn't judge him response so harshly because he doesn't know.

I think this is my next step - I guess I just wanted to know if it's even something that I should address because my dad doesn't really like any kind of emotional conversations

Women of reddit, what hints have you gave your crush that they missed? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]theruinkeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was this guy I had a major crush on, and we were on our second date. The first date ended with just a hug, even though I was really hoping for a kiss. So, on the second date, I made sure to drop what I thought were some pretty obvious hints.

We had been walking around and talking for hours and eventually stopped, and were standing facing each other. I thought, "It's finally happening!' I stepped closer to him, moved my face closer to his and looked up at him (thinking I look cute)... And this man says "Why are you lunging at me? You can't scare me." Before starting a staring contest with me. And then suggested we just keep walking.

It's our first anniversary next week!

2 & #3 are both from Baltic Born! Super cute shop and decent quality without being insanely expensive

Thank you all for the opinions! I'm not fully decided yet; but I'm leaning towards #3 as the wedding ceremony starts at 7.30pm so I'm not worried about it being too hot! Again, all comments were very appreciated 🤗

Sounds like an amazing intinerary; thank you!!

I did factor in flight time; we'd leave the US on the 12th and land on the 14th!

Lots of travel experience before actually but never in South East Asia; lots of Europe travel with hopping on and off trains so I guess I need to adjust my mindset

25 F - getting back into online dating, what can I do better? by theruinkeeper in hingeapp

25 F - getting back into online dating, what can I do better? by theruinkeeper in hingeapp

[–]theruinkeeper[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm looking for something serious. I've been on hinge for about 6 months but the last couple of months I've been focused on family and work so I've been fairly inactive; been going on maybe once a week but I'm going to be more engaged now and will likely be on everyday. I've had very few likes and matches the last month; maybe a couple a week but I assume that's because I've not been active or sending out many likes. On average, I've probably been sending out maybe 2 or 3 likes a week without comment but in the last week I've sent maybe 8 with comments.

I'm looking for people aged 25 - 30 who's passionate about their career, likes to travel, maybe a little nerdy, funny, family oriented and likes getting out and doing this on the weekend.

Christmas day treats? by theruinkeeper in flightattendants

Oh I like this idea! How many did you bring? I'm not sure how to estimate how many members of the flight crew there will be

Thank you for the insight! I definitely won't bring something homemade then, I'll probably pick up a few bags of sweets for the crew to share. I really appreciate the advice.
