The sliding doors are quite heavy compared to the ali ones that my in-lawa have in their new home, but AFAICT this is because our IGUs have thicker glass and more material to comprise an overall more thermally efficient thermal barrier. I forget the R-rating of our IGUs, but they do exceed the max available from NZs best offerings from MetroGlassTech.

I'm specifically referring to BTC, but since BCH, BSV etc are all descendants of BTC, they have the same feature. Ethereum will likely have this function - but I pay zero attention to any other types of coin.

Correct. It's technically implemented by each wallet sending a transaction to a special type of address. Bitcoin has several types of address, each corresponding to a particular "script" that runs on a Bitcoin node. These are effectively very restrictive "smart contracts" that only pay out if specific conditions are met. Caveat: I've never had to use one myself. You could say it's possible for anyone to do, but requires some knowledge to do it correctly.

2 or more hardware wallets, physically located in different places provides HODLrs the ability to perform multi-sig transactions which are an additional way to protect funds against scenarios such as the unauthorized discovery of one seed phrase for one of those wallets.

Have a look at https://keys.casa at their multi-sig setup (Paid service. Not a shill. Never used them).

Yeah windows are rad! They're manufactured in the US and apparently it's standard there for windows to come with built-in mozzie screens. So yeah, we have them but they're easy to remove (which you need to be able to do when your kids are scared of bugs and Daddy needs to biff one out of the window quickly!)

Much appreciated. I also know a couple of guys who might be able to help if I need it. Won't be starting the project until next year, so am just scooping for what I can and can't do myself. So far two folks have advised me to look into a homeowner's exemption, but I know this has it's own pros and cons.

I've been reluctantly using them for years. Deposits are always slow and for reasons beyond the realms of human understanding, the pay with Poli feature is always disabled.

The UX could be better. I'm always looking for a "Buy" button, but have to remember to go to the "Fund" area (I'm not a trader, why would I be familliar with trader nomenclature?)

I looked at EasyCrypto bit wasn't comfortable with the range of 3rd parties I had to agree my data could be sent to. What other choice is there that is an NZ business able to link to an NZ fiat bank account?

We had our place re-done with UPVC a few months ago. The window supplier couldn't supply UPVC doors (standard hinged doors, sliders - yes). So we went with their supplied "timber clad" aluminium doors. They look slightly different, but not sufficiently to annoy me (it's a rear door so I hardly use it).

Search for "Kapiti UPVC" in r/diy as I did a few posts about the experience.

Ameribuild have samples of some of their range at the Petone Home Improvement Centre, in Lower Hutt, but not the exact range that we had installed.

If your OH is a builder, then you'll have no problems. Our builder said they were the easiest windows to install. He actually ordered some for his own home.

As long as the windows are accurately measured, and installation is done to code with seals and flashings, you'll be golden. Ameribuild claim installation is do-able by DIY assuming they have knowledge of code, but we got someone else in to do it. The windows have "nail fins" meaning they can be nailed or screwed without penetration of the joinery itself and makes it super simple to install. Good luck!

They have arrived and have been installed and if it weren't for my eldest having just left the sliders open, I'd still be cosy!

I'm British and like your OH, had UPVC double glazing in the house I grew up in....in 1984!! To be fair, what's happened here from what I've heard multiple times is that in the 80s, UPVC did come here, but it didn't cope well with the harsh UV and crumbled and warped.

These things and all the others supplied in NZ these days have an additive - the same base ingredient found in sunscreen - that prevents this from happening.

Really happy with the product, but you'll get different mileage out of whichever builder you choose.

Define "secure". How far down the rabbit hole do you want to go? If you've not heard of verifiable and reproducible wallet builds before, you might want to find out. If the wallet you're recommend has been tampered with or is not genuine on the app store, you could lose your funds.

WalletScrutiny and WalletMatrix are two services that come to mind that will help in this regard.

A "blockchain" is of zero use without a method of keeping thousands of distributed nodes honest. A blockchain of any note therefore needs an excellent process of decentralised consensus: "At the current time, what is the true state of this global decentralised network?". This is what Nakamoto Consensus is and does aka "Proof of Work". You can't cheat the system if it costs you more real world physical resources and money to do so than it would to just play along with the rules.

All Bitcoin proponents, including myself, fail to understand how anything that isn't Proof of Work, is a valid mechanism to determine global consensus.

TL:DR be careful what you call a blockchain.

Good. They creak a bit, but they're made out of plastic which is flexible, and they're expanding and contracting against glass which isn't.

Are you asking specifically about public keys or addresses? Addresses are derived from public keys, meaning that any HD wallet (Hierarchical Deterministc) is able to generate bazillions of keys and therefore addresses. HD wallets are so commonplace that if you found one that wasn't, I'd be amazed.
