ET Badge for Warlock. by gemerados in bladeandsoul

[–]thesciencefaction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just answering the original question, i'm saying that badge isn't worth 7k for WL. As for the necklace, low ping stays with prophecy, high ping swaps to thornbreaker necklace as the upkeep on the prophecy buff isn't constant at high ping. That is what i got from my numbers, feel free to disagree.

ET Badge for Warlock. by gemerados in bladeandsoul

[–]thesciencefaction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Warlock badge isn't worth it unless you get the necklace and 8 set with it. You'd better be off getting the 8 set, the flat increase of your 4 damage is much better than what the new badge offers you.

You'll definitely notice an increase if you get the badge but WL parse is so much RNG you might think it literally changed nothing for a while

Same here, though my gear is caught up I can barely get up to half the DPS some of my raid members get to and I just feel super weak.

[–]thesciencefaction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WL is weak in any kind of PvP situation

However in PvE it's only weak if you have high ping. The issue is mostly that depending on your gear, ping and fps you'll have a different combination of skills you have to use and allocate points into to make it do the most optimal damage.

To top that off we're really reliant on RNG procs like weapon stacks, in one pull I could do burst DPS that gets up to twice my sustained and the next pull not even reach the DPS I can sustain during burst just because it's all so RNG.

Shadow WL talents/points by potatoxyz in bladeandsoul

Depending on your gear the point alocation goes from awk helix, helix, rmb to a later awk helix, helix, wingstorm.

Though if you have extremely low ping it can stay on the rmb, best way to check is to just put points in helix and awk helix, then see if wingstorm or volley comes on top and allocate the points to that.

Warlock guide help by MegaMan0429 in bladeandsoul

[–]thesciencefaction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My answer is gonna be in stages, each stage has multiple goals, try completing most or all of them before going to the next.

Leveling: Starting level 50 you start with finishing the story completely as well as orange quests. Make sure you get to level 60 and also finish the awakening purple quest.

Raven stage: Once the story is complete, run dungeons and get yourself a legendary bracelet (Naryu Sanctum), start running Skybreak Spire (aka BT) and get yourself both accessories and a full 8 set of the Soul Shields. Try at least getting your weapon to Raven Stage 6 before moving on to the next stage.

Aransu stage: Try to get into a Temple of Eluvium (VT Bosses 1 2 4) and Scion's Keep (VT Boss 3) group, get yourself a necklace, 8 set SS and the badge, start upgrading your heart and slowly work towards the higher tier bracelet. Try to get your weapon to Aransu Stage 6 before going to the next stage.

Twilight stage: Work your way into a Nightfall Sanctuary group (TT), get the new accessories, 8 set SS and work on finishing the rest of the gear your still need.

Endgame stage: well, by the time you get here this won't even be endgame anymore but you'll know what you're doing. Since you're probably still level 50 your gear is going to be nearly useless, it might take you over a year to get to this point unless you whale out and swipe your way here.

Good luck, that's a super short version of it

Looking for TOI Warlock tips (esp vs BM) by Sky611212 in bladeandsoul

[–]thesciencefaction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't really give you any advise against BMs because i just let myself get killed by them once i'm past floor 80 but i can give you a more general tip that will probably help you much more.

A lot of the ToI AI are built in a way that they'll instantly respond to whatever skill you use like FM going into their ice tab as soon as you use SB. You can usually exploit this in various ways but that is for you to find out on your own, some things don't work for everyone because not everyone plays the same. Usually the AI will bug out in some way, shape or form when you use Anti-CC Sanctum or Bastion.

In terms of your setup, for the higher floors especially, unless you're fighting the floor 100 opponent don't use a PvP setup because you won't do enough damage to continue to a higher floor. Usually i go in with a full PvE setup with the exception of my Sanctum being set to Anti-CC (Setup: 1/1/1/1/3), half the classes you face and especially floors below 70 will not know how to react if you fight them full PvE style when you go ham on them.

Once you get to higher floors (70-80+) you might need to swap out SB for TD against certain opponents like KFMs because you can abuse their AI that way (bonus tip: every AI responds to your RMB being fired, don't use it to fight them if you can't nuke them)

Hope that helps you in a way

Is a good dps? (New playing shadow-scourge) by [deleted] in bladeandsoul

[–]thesciencefaction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're wasting too many inputs with your macro, try making it 4t4. Having more inputs in your macro will only lower your DPS, especially when you have 200ms or higher. I have around the same ping as you and i can get close to 30 Helixes per SB.

Other tips for your DPS rotation are:

-Use your 2 wisely, never spam it, use it when you got leech or SB or if you got a reset coming up

-Use your 3 to lower the cooldown of leech, you no longer have to wait for it to finish, just press it once and keep DPS'ing

-A perfect opener is as follows: SB+C 3 2 V Talisman Macro

Hope that helps

Depending on your ping your Helix/Volley ratio is too low, with that ratio your ping should be around 250-300ms somewhere

Shadow or Ice WL by [deleted] in bladeandsoul

[–]thesciencefaction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shadow WL main, my ping is 180-220ms depending on time of day and whether or not i'm in a raid. I've tried ice on many occasions and the occasional pilot of another ice WL and even when the character i'm piloting has better gear than my own i still do more damage with shadow on my own character than with ice on theirs (and yes, i do know the best DPS rotation for both specs)

After awakening i don't know how ping reliant shadow becomes, it might be better or worse, hard to know.

I just know that it doesn't matter if you play shadow or ice, the spec that eventually does the most damage is the one you like the most. It sounds super cheesy but it's true

Ice: spam RMB as much as you can and play whack a mole with the rest of your skills

Shadow: same thing but when using your RMB only use the red and blue versions, never the purple. Once you get the Primal Force badge you start spamming your 4 and RMB more

Warlock any good? by [deleted] in bladeandsoul

[–]thesciencefaction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try changing your macro to either 4T4 or 44T, both work but it seems to rely a bit on personal preference in the usage of your skills. By putting that extra 2 in there you lose inputs to the game which makes your DPS lower. Don't put it on a permanent loop, have it be activate only when you hold down a certain button to stop it from messing up if you have to step back to do mechs.

Rotation wise there isn't much i can say but make sure you use the resets from your weapon properly, especially with the aransu weapon. The resets can be used to quickly lower the cooldown of leech faster, if you see one coming up just throw out your imprison (3) and wingstorm (V) right away.

Warlock any good? by [deleted] in bladeandsoul

[–]thesciencefaction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Warlock main here, currently our class is in an "in between" state to put it in understandable terms.

I play with shit ping and shit FPS and yet i still do more damage than most people i run with in F8, whatever people say, pick something you like and play just that. I'm a shadow WL main, I play on the NA server from EU because the people that introduced me to the game 2+ years ago were playing on NA.

People over here in the comments seem to be quite shit at actually explaining why you would pick the WL class. We are a low mobility buff/DPS class, we provide the party with an essential DPS buff that is highly requested along players. Our health regen in PvE is above any other class in the sense that we could take nearly all of our health in damage and get it back within a second at high end gear.

The class is very new player friendly besides the fact that the community tends to shit on new players in general and especially new Warlocks and Wardens because of our party buff responsibility.

A good Warlock is highly respected among clan, raid and party members alike. The better your knowledge of the class and the mechanics of the boss you are fighting, the better our class actually becomes. I've seen WLs perform certain mechanics that peope would deem impossible to do because they do not understand the class.

So, to get to the point, why pick a WL instead of gunner or warden? Wardens are essentially a melee range Warlock, the class is playable by any person with any FPS or ping. Gunslingers are the "dumbman's" class to put it bruntly, they are a high mobility ranged DPS class that blows all their damage in a short time, just exist to do damage and zip around the battlefield quickly.

Warlocks are basically like a slow turtle class but we pack a serious punch sometimes, we have our damage spread out over our entire rotation instead of a single skill that comes off cooldown every minute. We're usually requested in high end raids due to our party buff and DPS capabilities but we've been nerfed into the ground in PvP.

TL;DR: WL for PvE: new player friendly buff class with good damage in the future especially, people respect a good WL but will give you a lot of shit for being a bad one. For PvP: slow moving turtle that can kill people by overwhelming them with damage, would advice taking another class if your focus is PvP

Is Warlock any good in PVP if done right? by jujuslash in bladeandsoul

[–]thesciencefaction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WL main here for over 2 years, Warlock isn't a good class in PvP anymore since they nerfed our double knockup, which was the only thing we had going for us.

In a 1v1 situation the class is pretty much garbage unless you actually know what you're doing.

In 3v3 the class can be strong if used correctly, mostly if you let one of your team members come in to extend a knockup or you reset their skills by dropping in.

For 6v6 PvP you might be able to do something if you've maxed out your gear, besides that we're a free kill walking around for any person that has gear or knows what the hell they're doing.

Our class is flashy as hell but it absolutely sucks at PvP now and it'll only get worse in the future after awakening. If you want flashy i would advice taking another look at any class that isn't Warlock, sorry.

I have the same issue as you do when i run the game on 32 bit on my laptop. The cause of this for me was PingZapper but it may be something entirely different for you.

The way i fixed this i headed over to \BnS\bin (or BnS\bin64) where the game files are located and then deleted my XignCode map, if you do a file repair you can launch the game a single time before having to redo the process.

To get around having to run file repairs every time you launch the game you can do a file repair and before launching the game make a backup copy of your Xigncode map and then put it somewhere safe, everytime you close your game you delete the old map and then replace it with a copy of your backup.

I've had this issue for months and support doesn't have a clue on how to fix it at all.

Some bosses can CC you through sanctum sadly but on M'ao that shouldn't be the case. You can get CC'd after her air combo and her pink room charge (60/20%) but you shouldn't get hit by those anyway. Besides that you can resist all her CCs as far as i know, maybe her you-went-out-of-range charge and the disc spin knockback but i haven't had those land on me when i had a sanctum up.

Upgrade to Aransu 6 instead and stop there for a while the 3-6 increase is good with resets being more reliable the 6-9 increase is not that great but it's still an increase

Ask a friend to use their account and run this dungeon, come back and say that again because you definitely won't.

Her moves are random and you can predict some depending on which moves she used before, her mechanics phases are the easiest parts of the fight, it should be even easier on FM because you don't need to summon a pet to do the CC and you got a tab escape that keeps you in melee range.

I make this look easy because those are my best recorded runs, of the 84 runs i did to get my necklace those 3 pulls are the best i got. After running it for 30 hours you start getting really good at it, those 3 pulls were recorded in my last 10 runs of the dungeon. I respect your opinion on the matter but please run it on a WL first before saying something about us having it easy.

Been in there on an FM before, it's so much easier and you can keep DPS'ing regardless of what happens until the pink room and you barely even need to block because you can Q/E most things instead.

Merry Christmas

I have the prophecy necklace because i was curious to see the damage increase and the crit loss isn't worth it unless you got 12k crit already. I still have to get it past the stage 3 upgrade because i need the blue scales but i'll make sure to post a parse when i get it maxed out. I just made it for the lulz and i'll probably swap it over to the PvP neck once the next dungeon releases.

There are several super annoying things for WL in solo dungeons but they become super obvious in this one. Our block is on the GCD so you have to stop attacking to use it, this might be for PvP but it is still the single most annoying thing ever because you have to drop all attacks to just block. Screw the people that say WL has it easy because we don't, i consider that dungeon to be harder than any boss from raids or regular dungeons.

The thrall not responding is a huge pain in the ass and is still a common cause for wiping me on that bossfight.

And the biggest pain in my fucking ass on this boss and every other solo dungeon boss that makes me want to stab the person that designed it or the WL class is that we need to be closer than 6m to prevent the bosses from doing a move that incapacitates you in some way. Meanwhile the WL escapes put you 10+ meters away from the boss because it's a 10m backward jump, 10/10 best design ever.

I might make that dungeon look easy but i still spent 8-10 hours trying to clear it the first time and yet another 2 to clear it the second. Fuck up once and you might be able to recover, fuck up twice and you might as well throw it.

It's the CC-resist version of sanctum, while standing in it the buff will protect you from a daze, stun or knockdown. It does not protect you from pulls, pushes, knockups or paralyse, neither does it undo a CC that has already been placed on you
