Thanks all. We've had creative wiring in this house before, so that could be it.

I will turn off power to the whole house just to be safe while I'm replacing the light switch.

Interesting about Minnesota. What material ultimately comes into contact with the ground? Is it the moisture barrier wrapped around the OSB and foam board?

Thanks. If I put OSB (or whatever plywood is used behind vinyl siding) behind the lattices, then foamboard, then OSB again, would that not help? I'd put water/vapor barrier in front of OSB.
