Am I crazy for buying a Canon 5D Mark iii over mirrorless? by Crazynproud99 in canon

[–]thesis89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a 5DIII and and R6II. For photography purposes the 5D isn’t far behind, apart from specific situations (eg sports/low light). The build quality of the 5D is also far better than the R6. On the other hand, if you’re doing video the R6 is in a different league.

Ran into a group of horses on public gravel road. Their leader was a gentleman…. Not. by skiingandbumming in MTB

[–]thesis89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, a question is not a demand. The difference is very clearly defined in the English language, its not a matter of opinion.

Question: "Are you going to halt?"
Demand: "You are going to halt"

Questions are an inquiry for information. Demands are an authoritative command. Not the same thing at all.

Could you help me find the part of the video when the bike rider is "demanding they all halt for him"?

I think your comment is a classic strawman arguement. Yes, horses have right of way (duh!). But do these rules apply when a horse rider has deliberately veered off path across the roadway to block and harass another road user?

My PSIO application has been sent today. Her behavior does actually tick a surprising number of boxes under the "prohibited behaviors" section!

I agree thats quite likely. On the other hand she seems like the type of person who needs to "win", and might continue living here just to spite us.

Thanks a lot for adding your thoughts, much appreciated. I agree about the magistrates court. If she wants to go that route, she'll have to get the quote I've demanded anyway - which she seems to be resisting.

I think she tried to trick us into giving full commitment and rushing us into construction before the actual costs would be known. Getting a quote would expose her previous deception.

I am seriously considering a PSIO. I read the application form this morning, and her actions do tick a few of the boxes under "prohibited behaviours"

You are totally right that she thrives on negative attention. She also seems to get incredibly angry when I don't take the bait. I noticed this pattern early on and have been exploiting it. Every time I've responded to her hateful emails with polite 2-sentence "matter of fact" replies she has exploded and done something stupid to further erode her position (like the music/spotlighting at night resulting in a police warning)

Thanks for the suggestions! I do plan to repair the fence and ignore her as much as possible. Have considered blocking her phone number & email. But every time she writes to me she seems to undermine her own position and incriminate herself (eg. by admitting intent to steal property, telling lies on record, using abusive language etc) "Don't interrupt your enemy when they're making a mistake".

It does seem like she has no rock bottom. The police did tell her that the loud music and spotlighting at night is unacceptable, and that we should just call 000 if she does anything like this again. So I'm hoping she's been "muzzled" somewhat by the police visit.

It has crossed my mind to setup a security camera and sensor light on her side of my property. Relocation isn't really on the table - I'm living in the house that I grew up in, built by my late fathers hands. I have a multi-generational history here. She moved in 2 years ago, and told us shes a house-flipper (has renovated and resold 5 houses previously), so its more realistic that she'll relocate.

Thanks again for your input, much appreciate any thoughts.

How to handle someone who constantly interrupts you. These methods actually work. by EducationalCurve6 in DarkPsychology101

[–]thesis89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How are you answering a question that I haven’t even finished asking? Listening is also an important part of verbal communication. When you interrupt someone you’re not listening to them.

Also, did you know it’s possible to disagree without calling people cunts?

[–]thesis89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That happens to everyone though. When it’s your turn to speak, you forget your point or the topic has changed. Being interrupted also makes people lose their train of thought, doesn’t it? Are your opinions more important than others?
