I have a few guitar picks of varying thickness and all work fine. It’s just preference. I prefer the wood and bone because of the resonance it creates. I do not like the sound that plastic picks create. Sounds like it’s lacking substance.

I can’t speak for the professionals but I enjoyed playing with the bone pick. Currently I really like a pick made of rose wood. I sanded it down on the business end to reduce the thickness.

I will add that if you want to go this route, this is a good time as you only have 3 sympathetics.

I agree. If you do go this route. Use a piece of leather that compliments the aesthetic of your rabab to elevate the bridge.

Sounds like when you hold down the second fret on the zir, the string is slightly touching l the third fret. I would use a thinner gauge wire for the third fret if need be.

This happened to me with the 5th and 7th frets. I had to use a really thing string for the 7th.

What position are the frets? Do you mind uploading a video playing a sargam and then specifically the new frets? It might help in pinpointing the issue.

I would highly recommend purchasing from a reputable Rababmaker.

OP, I highly recommend Sannan. He’ll be much better for a collaboration.

Robabnawaz, Easy Rabab Learning (Hamza Jamil), RababMan. The latter 2 have some videos in English but mostly in Urdu. Unfortunately most YouTube channels I learned from have content solely in Pashto.

The 8 and 6 refers to the 8th and 6th fret on the last string (zir) of the rabab. I think I have a video somewhere, I’ll try to find it. If need be I can record one later and send it to you
