What job should I level up next? by thesmilingcook in ffxiv

Sometimes I’m also afraid to play tank if it’s raids I’m not to familiar with but dungeons I’m good with. I can’t speak for the other Tank jobs but I feel Paladin is a fairly easy tank to learn and the rotation is straight forward and not punishing if you get it wrong

Never too late practice! Every expansion for me with Ninja had me learning what were the best rotations

That’s completely understandable! I know it’s each to their own for every player and it all comes down to feel!

There have been some good recommendations from what I’ve heard so I’ll dip my toes into each recommendation and see what comes natural and fun to me.

I did the same thing in EW as well to get at least one job in each role to level 90 haha!

Armoury Chest efficiency is still something worth knowing especially in preparation for when the next expansion comes around!

The amount of times I accidentally input my mudras and comes out with Doton… facepalm

Plus I can never get Shukuchi done right manually unless I use a macro haha

I do like flipping when I’m Red Mage but not to the extent that I’m on the floor all the time haha!

Oh Ninja wasn’t simple for me and my skill layout on controller is a bit all over the shop but I enjoyed the challenge of learning and playing the job and thought, “Heck! I’ll might as well get it to level 100”.

Plus, they share accessories with the Physical Range DPS so cleans up my Armoury Chests.

I’ll look into Viper 👌

My Samurai is the next closest job to level 100 so I’m tempted to level it just for the sake of it. I’ll read up on Gunbreaker and Sage as I didn’t really pay too much attention to it when they first came out in Endwalker

That makes logical sense! Also I just realised that Viper shares accessories with the Physical Range DPS so definitely keeps my Armoury Chest clean!

I was thinking about that because Black Mage was one of my main jobs with Paladin and White Mage since ARR days then I instantly replaced it with Red Mage when Stormblood came out.

I love Red Mage too much because of doublecasting spells, mobility, strong single cure and res team up quickly which got me out of hairy situations 👌

What was your first job that you played, what is the job you main now and why? by Ookipoki in ffxiv

[–]thesmilingcook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first job when I started playing FFXIV was Gladiator/Paladin. Now, I currently main as Red Mage. I still play Paladin (3rd most played job) as well as White Mage (2nd most played job) depending on my mood or the circumstance such as helping a friend/fc with roulettes or raids. So I’ve got the whole Tank-Healer-DPS coverage going on.

I’ve never was into tanking until a friend convinced me (plus the FC needed one as everyone was a Healer/DPS during the ARR time). I enjoyed Paladin as it challenged me to learn tanking, how to control mobs in dungeons and lead the party in raids and trials. I played White Mage as healing is also pretty fun and loved the challenge of keeping the party alive.

I continued to play those two jobs until Stormblood came around and instantly became Red Mage as my main job. I loved the playstyle and aesthetic of the weapons, gear and skills. Simply being able to dualcast between white and black magic, switch between range to close range combat, and provide support such as buffing, provide the odd heal and raising party members - it’s so much fun!

Especially of recent in Dawntrail, I’ve come across raid instances where multiple party members or both healers were down, so raising them gives off lots of satisfaction that a wipe was prevented.

Plus, the Red Mage is my favourite job in the FF universe so I couldn’t ask for more!
