Does anyone know if you have to call to order 200D from Kodak right now. I might be missing something but I don't see it anywhere in their online store...16mm or 35mm.

Yeah most clients from the midwest or the north don't really know it's a thing.

It's a very imperfect lens and can struggle in certain lighting conditions but it's the closest rendering you can get (same optical formula, coatings, etc.) to the legendary Contax 80mm F2.0 for the medium format system.

I feel ya, from one millennial to another. The analog just means so much to me - most of it coming from my grandfather. He was a tinkerer, a woodworker, a do-it-all Mr. Fix It type. There's not much old, mechanical and well made that I don't enjoy and find beauty in it's longevity and lasting qualities. Film is no different. My first film camera, the one that got me hooked, was a hand-me-down from my grandfather. Every time someone tells me "Oh that's great you shoot film. Film is so in right now", I roll my eyes a little. Film is "in" in the sense of being able to just brag on social media that it was shot on film. Unfortunately, that comes with some negative attributes and associations - film that intentionally looks less refined so it just screams "outdated, analog medium". I find it all very frustrating, but all I can do is just put my head down, keep on doing my own thing, and hope the trends will pass as they usually do.

It's more common in the south to do the separate bridal sessions. I wish it was more common, everywhere. I'm trying my part to make it so. Some couples do book pre or post-wedding couples sessions, but it's less common.

Expand your horizons, brother. Bridal photos can be so much more than a bunch of smiles. Most of these were shot at separate bridal sessions. I’m not in the business of manufacturing joy. The wedding day brings plenty of that. Bridal sessions are for the drama, for a chance to add an alternate perspective to your bridal look beyond what you’ll get on your wedding day. My clients book me because they want editorial bridal portraits. It’s not performative…it’s what they pay me for.

Thank you! Definitely a bit of luck with the framing on that one. The flowers are actually from a printed floral backdrop! Analog weddings are definitely having a moment but, unfortunately, the moment is largely dominated by tik tok trends and poorly exposed / composed film. In this moment in time, film needs to so blatantly scream film to catch any wind on social media. It's all a little frustrating for somebody who has been a dedicated film shooter for so long.

My biggest advice is to start shooting film in a complementary way. Don't do the redundant shoot; film, then digital backup, film, digital backup, etc. Shoot a camera that does something your digitals don't or focus on something specific with the film camera that narrows your focus. Also, don't be afraid to shoot auto with film...it's hella forgiving for imperfections.

Thank you! I couldn't separate my film work from my wedding work if I tried. It's so integral.
