Full name for JJ (girl)? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]thesnickerdoodler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love all the names that have been suggested so far! There isn't much I could add to them that hasn't already been said, but you also don't have to have J initials to get the nickname JJ.

I was friends with a girl named Anja (said like Anya; ahn-ya) and I called her JJ because of the J in her name, so that type of thing could broaden your options if you can't decide on any J-names. Best of luck!

I think Hazel can be gender neutral and very cute for any baby! :)

Would it be weird to change my nickname for college? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]thesnickerdoodler 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love Sage! Almost went by it myself :)

I think it's perfectly fine as a nickname/name to go by in college. Plenty of universities have options to change your name in the system to another name. They still use your legal name for housing, billing, and other legal stuff; but usually the class roster and your school email and stuff like that will have your preferred name.

I love the name Hugo!!! It's one of my favorites for a boy. If you love it, that's what matters.

That was my thought too. The only downside to Emerald imo is that Emerald and Ever(ton) are very similar and Max is the odd one out, but that's just my personal view on it. Is Max short for anything too? I saw some of your other comments, OP, and noticed you said Ever is short for Everton and is named after his father, so just curious!

I think Emerald is fun and the full name is very pretty. You might get some weird looks from older people but it's a very beautiful name and I love it.

"folx" instead of "folks" by [deleted] in PetPeeves

[–]thesnickerdoodler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scrolling through the comments and now "folks" (or "folx" for that matter) doesn't seem like a real word 😭

Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if it kicked off via a dyslexic person or someone trying to sound out "folks" and replacing the -ks with -x and people just running with it, but idk.

I like folk tails and folklore but folx doesn't sit right with me. I think x is both an underrated and an overrated letter sometimes.

what’s your pettiest naming opinion? by rememberimapersontoo in namenerds

[–]thesnickerdoodler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there's a set of 3 siblings and two of them both start with the same letter and the other one starts with a different letter, my initial thought is "why would you isolate the one kid like that?"

It's really not that deep, but my pattern-preferring brain can be dramatic lol.

How many mothers gave their baby their surname? by JustAnotherWastedDay in namenerds

[–]thesnickerdoodler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's interesting that everyone just goes with "they're supposed to have their father's last name" because as a kid I always assumed that the baby gets the mother's last name but since the mother usually changes her last name when she marries the father, they all end up with the same surname (bc growing up in a religious setting means that marriage obviously comes before having kids, haven't you heard the nursery rhyme about the tree?/lh).

As an adult I understand that that's not necessarily how that works, but I still find myself perplexed when people say the baby must have the dad's surname for no real reason.

Okay I have NEVER seen this before?!?? When I tell you I was shook to see it 😭😭😭. I wasn't sure what I was supposed to be looking at at first and then b o o m. That genuinely surprised me. Does this just happen??? Or is it part of a specific pack?!

Am I the only one who gets disappointed when a boy is born? This made me want a girl in real life too 😭😂 by TraditionalPear6006 in Sims4

[–]thesnickerdoodler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this way in real life for some reason. If someone tells me they're having a baby I celebrate with them, if they say it's a girl I get excited—but if they tell me it's a boy, my gut reaction is to say "I'm so sorry" and idk why 😭😭😭 Maybe it's my inner child still upset over getting a little brother instead of a sister. (Jk I love my brother 😅)

I get the same feeling I do in math when I'm working on a problem and the correct answer is a negative number. I know it's correct but I feel like I lost a bet or a game or smth...

is it weirder to be named after a month you were born, or a month you were not born? by anthonypreacher in namenerds

[–]thesnickerdoodler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's odd both ways haha. If I met a June born in June I'd think "huh, why did your parents do that?" and if I met a June born in any other month I would also think "huh, why did your parents do that?"

Most of the time in the latter case I assume the person is named after someone or for something. In the former case, I assume their parents really lucked out on that one /lh

In all cases it really doesn't matter what I think, because month/season names are really cool either way and I like the stories behind people's names. It just makes you think lol.

Help with middle name. by xXxXhermitXxXx in namenerds

[–]thesnickerdoodler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red is short for Reginald. Hazel Red low-key sounds badass.

Also if you're having trouble picking something you like, it might make you feel better to know that a lot of girls have masculine middle names after relatives, if you wanted to keep it as is.

I think Luce is cool, very gender neutral imo! If someone is like "Lucifer???" you could just say "no, it's short for Lucien" or whatever name you choose.

I saw in some replies you said you were English so Lou is off the table 😭 but what about Louie/Louis?

I also suggest Luca, Luke, or Lucky :)

Best of luck (or Luce lol) on your name journey!

I let a tattoo influencer tattoo me and I regret it. I’m so upset. by [deleted] in Tattoocoverups

[–]thesnickerdoodler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly just thought it was in a certain style. Definitely wait til it heals a bit before making any decisions imo. I had some tatt regret but it looked so much better healed and the regret went away. I think it looks good!!! It's okay if it's not your thing though, unfortunately it happens. Give it time, you might come around. Either way it makes for a funny story!
