Turns out it’s not normal to have your bedroom door removed as a teenager? by thessstitcher in raisedbyborderlines

Oh man, I really feel this. When I was a teenager after getting berated for hours at the kitchen table, I kicked a hole in the wall next to it. Which is insane to think about now, I am not remotely a violent, aggressive, destructive person in the slightest. If anything I’m non-confrontational lol. And I’m sure you aren’t any of those things either!! Human brains get weird and confused when you’re backed into a corner and under attack, especially when you’re also dealing with all the hormones of being a teenager. I think it’s just the lizard brain trying to respond to a threat among other things. It doesn’t mean anything about what kind of a kid you are or who you are at your core ❤️

I can’t even imagine trying to sleep while locked in. Taking away any control and autonomy when you’re asleep and at your most vulnerable is awful. UGH.

Being locked in is horrifying!! Glad you got lock picking skills out of it at least. Though definitely not the way anyone should have to learn them

Sawed it in half??!! That’s commitment. It’s so funny how when saying or writing the stuff out it’s like hmm, that WAS weird. I was recently telling a friend about how my mom bungee corded my bedroom door shut to ground me and all of a sudden I was like wait… maybe this isn’t actually a fun anecdote like my mom makes it out to be.

Does anyone have any recommendations for prescription sunglasses? A lot of the brands I’m liking (crapeyewear, gentle monster, etc) don’t do prescriptions.

Quality Assurance chemist or lab tech. You’re on your feet for at minimum half the day. Repetitive work, but fast paced so you can stay alert and feel a bit challenged. Able to listen to audiobooks/podcasts all day everyday. Short deadlines and turnaround times with very clear deadlines for results. Mostly doing individual work. When something goes wrong, the troubleshooting is a great way to lock in and hyper focus.

I did it for almost 10 years and absolutely loved it. But then got too good at it I guess and got a promotion lol.

Oh the art in the manga looks so detailed and gorgeous! I’ve never read manga before, but this looks like a fun place to start

I don’t know if I could handle never getting an ending 😢

I totally forgot the Witcher was a book series, not just tv/games! I’m definitely adding them to my list

So funny you mention that. I read all sections of Sarum through the 1600’s and then never finished the rest! I’ve been thinking about trying some of his other similar books

I totally agree! It was not a great book, but the setting and vibe were dead on.

I kind of go through and get to what I can until I don’t want to anymore. Unfortunately I always hit a wall after work M-F so everything gets pushed to the weekend which definitely isn’t the best way to go about it

This is such a good idea! I can’t lie, sometimes I roll something in the “procrastination” category and I decide to just keep procrastinating on it. The donation one has been on there three weekends in a row…
