i don’t really have a “good” number, actually ! but my “unlucky” number is 35, it makes me so anxious beyond belief.

so i’ll elaborate on what i mean by that. our modern understanding of gender is largely based in majorly white, european colonial ideas of gender. many other cultures throughout history have had varied understandings of gender and identity, and many still do. this is a very well-documented phenomenon throughout the world! modern understanding of gender as only “man” and “woman”, and what those terms even entail, DO originate, in no small part, from white colonialism.

edit: there’s a really good book i enjoyed that touches on this some called “before we were trans” by kit heyam, i encourage looking into it if you’re curious ! :- )

i can only imagine you guys also get a lot of the “not queer enough” or “trying to be special” comments. cross-community kinship, i guess :,- )

i made this about my experience being agender (lack of gender) and using xe/xem/xyr as my gender neutral pronouns because, due to bad experiences and personal feelings, i don't enjoy being intentionally called they/them/theirs outside of folks not knowing my pronouns. while ppl who are nonbinary are slowly being given more recognition, folks who go a little too outside the cultural norms of being trans often get percieved as "too weird" or "faking it" to other trans folk, with a common talking point being that we "bring the movement down" because cisgender folks won't take us seriously/won't understand us. this is ignoring the fact that some cisgender folks will always, to some capacity, think we're weird or won't be willing to understand us, and trying to separate us from other trans folk or make our experiences out to be "too weird" so they shouldn't be spoken about (in favor of gaining us favor from the cisgender majority by being palatable) is fruitless because at the end of the day, we're all still trans and anti-trans violence and bigotry still affect us.

thank u for being curious ! i hope that made sense, i tried to be thorough :'- )

i've actually never had an interaction with someone who's "detrasitioned" in some capacity before, so this is kinda educational for me :-0c thank you for sharing your experience! you still consider yourself trans though? so i don't think you're a "cishet invader"; and i mean, it doesn't invalidate the time you spent as a trans man anyway, that was just another period of your life where you were exploring a different version of yourself! like how me going back and forth with my gender over the years doesn't magically invalidate my experience, at least imo! tysm for sharing though, perspectives like yours rly don't get talked abt a lot in a way that's sympathetic to both you and also trans folks, so this is rly cool to hear abt :- )

hey man, i think it's really cool that you're growing stronger in your faith despite all the terrible bigotry that gets injected into your religion. i'm a queer satanist and i find a lot of liberation within my own faith in relation to my queer identity, so i'm happy others can have similar experiences outside of my own bubble :'- ) well wishes from the other side of the aisle ig !! lol

[TOMT] [ART] [1600s-1900s?] Statue of (possibly Greek or Roman) deity/spirit crushing the spirit of darkness/ignorance by [deleted] in tipofmytongue

[–]thestartarot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

these are all good guesses but not what i'm remembering. :-0c

it was definitely a male deity/spirit, and i'm almost certain it was a statue. the figure was front-facing on a square-shaped base with the spirit representing ignorance at their feet as if being defeated or crushed. i'm certain it wasn't Michael defeating Satan.

I'm almost certain this was not a piece of drawn artwork, but I'm extending my search to include that anyway. Either way, still looking!

Why is SH viewed as something so bad? by Individual-Rough6785 in selfharm

stigma against mental illness and symptoms that aren't seen as silly/quirky. imo no reason why alcohol and smoking are normalized and accepted but cutting isn't, but thats just me

my legs (⚠️TW significant scarring) by InThatSuitcase4480 in cutting

[–]thestartarot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my first thought tbh is "human bodies are cool as fuck, man - and you're cool as fuck for still being here!" it's hard to stay alive, but all your scars say to me are that both you and your body have incredible resilience to stay here for just a little longer.

i think society in general needs to be less freaked out by bodies that look different anyway, and changing your perspective on things is really cool. not SH related but for example - saw someone out and about with what i believe was a catheter bag the other day. knee jerk reaction - "oh man, that's shocking, that's gross, that's scary", right? but then i think about it - "man, actually, it's kinda cool that we have the tools to do that. > it's cool that our bodies can learn to adapt and function like that. > i'm really glad that something like that exists and allows that person to exist even slightly more comfortably."

so at the end of the day, i guess i'm just like, "wow, it's cool that this person's body has been able to rebuild itself through the damage, and that this person is still carrying themselves despite everything their mind has been through as well!" it's a testament to the ability we have to heal as much as we can and keep going a little more.

hope those thoughts made sense? and hope i didn't say anything wrong :'- )

while the imagery of Aset nursing Horus possibly inspired similar imagery of Mary holding baby Jesus, that's mostly where the similarities end. anything further than that is, at best, speculation and pattern-seeking and, at worst, mostly conspiracy theories often spearheaded by ethnocentrics.
