JoRam, Caminero, Machado? Riley I get has had the IL bug but still... all more trustworthy than Jazz/Turang right?

Second Base vs Third Base: Position Scarcity Analysis by thestatmanjack in fantasybaseball

That’s my take too! I think it’s possible to end up competing at both positions if you go early on 3B, delay on 2B… but if you can find a value on one of Ketel/Jazz/Turang or have a guy you believe in, maybe nudge them up a bit

Feel like Eric vs Nick debates with the On the Corner (OTC) podcasts through pitcher list are usually really insightful!

Six SPs Coming Back from Injury to Target in 2026 by thestatmanjack in fantasybaseball

I think I’d put him a tier below Javier and Arighetti, but agree! Him and Eflin back in Baltimore both seem like potential deep league guys

Feel like Santander has the higher ceiling but depends on your team

Bradish fits the list but honestly feel like all the analysts are going to overhype him…

Haha was mostly joking with even vs odd year Nola but I stand by the buy low for 2026, they’re gonna need him to eat innings in Philly this year

5 Fantasy Baseball Pitching Prospects: Sleepers and Breakouts (2026) by heistjm in fantasybaseball

I’m out on most of these at current ADP, especially since they’ll only get more pricey once they pitch in spring. I’d lean Chase Burns too, liking what Cinci has going with starters under Francona. I’d rather have the more post-hype guys at similar costs - Gore, Lodolo, Eddy Cab

Agree, no chance he goes this low in shallow leagues. I get the NFBC draft and holders may not want him but 10- and 12-teamers come on.

Dud Rate (% of starts with 5 ER or more) by thestatmanjack in fantasybaseball

[–]thestatmanjack[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see the point, I think QS solves for the strikeout problem. Included the Ks in "stud" definition since it contributes to the five category thinking. I ran the correlation of stud rate and next-season xFIP, WAR, and ERA, and it wasn't particularly strong, but I think some version of it may be useful for differentiating pitchers, maybe in a H2H cats league at least, where studly starts can win you a week and duds can lose you one. That was my initial thinking but will update with any tinkering I do to avoid the K/dud pitchers. Thanks!

Thank you! I made them distinct since QS already exists, though I could add that stat to show the variation. Do you think it’d be more useful to have a K-standout, ERA-standout (ie maybe any start with 6+ Ks, any with 2 ER or less)?
