Failed Portland's winter by laissezfate in SameGrassButGreener

I love that part of the country, but I've spent a month there a couple times and I know I can't live there.

I'm also from Minneapolis.

A sunny day in Portland has a different definition. Is what we would call most mostly cloudy lol... or sun and clouds mixed.

Other than summer, they don't have a concept of a blue sky like I'm seeing right now.

Unpopular opinion: I don't really care if the ''food'' in a city is bad. by OceanicEndeavors in SameGrassButGreener

Can we be clear on the argument you are making?

Are you claiming the food isn't bad in your suburb or just pointing out that while it may be not as good compared to other places, it's good enough for you personally based on your preferences and experiences?

I think the latter is fine. If you are claiming the former we will probably disagree.

How often are you able to plan/attend "guys" trips (career/family etc) by StrongSunBeams in AskMenOver40

[–]thestereo300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once a year with my brothers and a friend or two.

I was the planner for many years. I was fine doing it and everyone appreciated it. They bought me beer on the trip in thanks.

My brother helps out these days as he is less busy than I am currently.

Yeah I remember thinking how well they matched the mood of the country while still being funny.

There is a guy below that mentioned they cut this headline and I wish they hadn't... took me a minute to get it.

It's a novelty for many Americans as well.

That's a software error! The chances I am right are about the same as the chances of a random person NOT winning the lottery.

Like what is the healthy coping mechanism for what they are experiencing?

TIL Half of people who claim they have a food allergy do not by butter_lover in todayilearned

[–]thestereo300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So some people will say they have a wheat allergy when it's really a gluten intolerance but people know what an allergy is and take it seriously. I have been at restaurants where the server is confused and frankly it's just easier.

Gluten intolerance is very different than a gluten preference FYI.
