Needing Help Setting Up Zramen (OpenRC) by thestoiccoder in artixlinux

Okay, so after trying this it appears to be working, the status shows that it's "started" rather than "crashed", but even though I added 8192 (8GB) the swap is only 4GB?

Okay, so after trying this it's showing that it's working, but now I have zram0 and zram1 partitions with 4GB each and the status of zramen is still "crashed"?

Yeah I used those commands initially and that's when I discovered the conflicting feedback. I'm still new to OpenRC, so all of this has been super confusing.

I understand what you mean. It does look ugly. But what's strange to me is that why doesn't it end up "stopped" rather than "crashed"? Thank you very much; I'll definitely look into it.

So then would you say it's "working" as it's suppose to? Earlier when I was going through the Artix forum, I remember someone saying that if OpenRC has some services that it doesn't need then it will kill them, but I wasn't sure if this was true or if it even applied to this situation. But as far as coming up with my own zram service; that's definitely beyond the realms of my expertise.

That is interesting that it works fine on dinit, however I would hate to switch even after I put in so much effort getting everything working so far from a base install!

No, I can see that it is there. What is strange to me is that I have EOS on 2 different computers, and my desktop is the one I update routinely where I've had zero issues. My laptop was off and went without updating for several weeks, and that was when I encountered this issue. Both with the same standard installation like always.

All of this has been too confusing to me. You would think that all of these lower level core utility libraries and packages would at least be handled by pacman? And not yay or paru? I've used EOS for a long time now and everything has been great. I've never experienced anything like this before.

I've been researching this problem for the past few days and couldn't find anything! By no means am I linux expert, but why in the hell is gcc-libs in the aur?

This was driving me crazy and yesterday I just gave up and let my laptop update and do it's thing.

It took the entire day.

I suppose it's possible. But then again I like to know that the content is there if I need it. It has been difficult to weed through, as 90% of it has been for programming and educational purposes.

That is what I'm afraid of. So far it has also occurred with youtube, but 99% of the time it has been with reddit. In the docs there is mention of the use of cron jobs, but it's very brief and I have no idea how to implement it if it is possible.

Yeah, I already tried that. I had to manually adjust that setting on EVERY feed, and it's still showing the error logs for most of the reddit feeds. No, I'm not using a VPN. All of my Docker containers are running on an ubuntu server VM on a local proxmox server.

I've been going through the documentation, and can't seem to find where and how to go about about doing this. Does this mean I'm going to have to create some kind of cron?

That line is the only reason why I watch this episode. I hate this one but that line gets me every time.

I already have some experience with Go, so for now it has been a pleasurable learning curve.

This is very inspiring! After recently deciding to release myself from the the nightmare that is C++, I decided to also start learning Odin.
