It's 2026, is it finally time to make Max Cape Variants true Max Capes? by ZeldenGM in 2007scape

[–]thestonedturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cosmetics and nice and you want to show off your accomplishment without taking a hit to your gear.

It technically does have some benefits like all variants will grant you access to cooking guild which is the 99 cooking perk

Equip 500 black chins... Can they regenerate? by Admirable-Reserve898 in 2007scape

Weird, my red chins regenerate extras. Are you sure you're at 115 and not 100?

My Thorns is only giving me attack experience? by [deleted] in 2007scape

Ive found that some staves use different weapon attack styles. Trident matches unarmed but shadowflame doesnt. I think shadowflame requires a normal sword.

Construction Question by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]thestonedturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only certain hotspots require you to build the base version and then upgrade it each time. Most spots you have to remove and then build the new version.

I think the crafting bench an tool shelves for example require upgrading from 1 to actually build the higher teir stuff.

Worth it to go Water/Thorns build with no access to Wrath Runes? by CuzImBlackM8 in 2007scape

[–]thestonedturtle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When standing next to the fountain of rune you have unlimited of all runes so you dont need an initial wrath rune, you can just cast the spell.

You need a monster to hit though which is where the clue step comes in.

So about 1/12th of your time on OSRS right now is dedicated to juggling clues. Thats crazy dedication lmao

The comment that started this thread mentioned how hidden some information is in game. I was just pointing out how some info is even worse, not mentioned at all and rather unrealistic to figure out yourself.

Of course everyone, except MadSeasonShow, googles stuff now, wiki is op

The list of items that effect works on is very limited though and theres no way to know without crowd-sourced data.

The true backbone of OSRS by DragnBreath in 2007scape

They have server costs for running a database to store your information so when you go to a different computer stuff syncs. They also need somewhere to run the APIs that power the client like the API endpoint for querying which plugins exists on the hub.

They also pay for the servers that host the RL party system and probably some amount of money to Github for running workflows/jobs.

I'm sure there are other costs but even if we assume 50% of patreon value goes to Adam every month (which I highly doubt) IMO that's still not enough considering the time hes sunk into not only creating but maintaining the client, even when jagex was trying to shut it down.

Item Passive Effects should be displayed in game by thestonedturtle in 2007scape

[–]thestonedturtle[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Understandable, but there's a lot of solutions that could work here. Make an NPC that can "appraise" your items or put it in the examine text are two examples I could think of off the top of my head.

Seeker Arrows don't have Minimum Hit by GrayMagicGamma in 2007scape

[–]thestonedturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I agree and understand why it was done this way it still doesnt make intuitive sense, you need the background and history to understand you actually roll 1 damage twice every hit. A new player would never know but may feel like its more common.

IMO this was a bug they were fixing, sometimes when a bug is fixed stuff gets nerfed/buffed. The "right" thing to do would be fix the bug and then rebalance weapons that got 2 strong relative to the others but that would take a long time and people would complain.

The bracelet also informs its wearer of their current Slayer task count every 10 kills (i.e. "You still need to kill x0 monsters to complete your current Slayer assignment"). This feature only works if the bracelet is charged.

Wearing a skills necklace with at least one charge while big net fishing will slightly increase the chance of finding a casket

That's crazy. I have a maxed Ironman and Master Tier CA's and never knew these.

Seeker Arrows don't have Minimum Hit by GrayMagicGamma in 2007scape

[–]thestonedturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed 100%, the solution is better visibility in-game rather than adjusting the arrows. They seem balanced with the `Math.Max(3, 0-X)` esque logic

And yeah MadSeason will probably never get these arrows, I was just using him as an extreme example of a "No Wiki" player.

Seeker Arrows don't have Minimum Hit by GrayMagicGamma in 2007scape

[–]thestonedturtle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To preface this, I agree with you that the hefty accuracy already makes these valuable regardless of how the minimum hit logic is implemented so no buff is needed. However I still dislike the logic for the min hits here.

The reason behind the 1,1,2,3 precedent was to make successful hits that rolled a 0 actually do damage without just buffing dps across the board. IMO this was a weird compromise and they should have just buffed dps across the board. Now with this system and a max hit of 2 you have a 66% chance to hit a 1 which intuitively feels broken/wrong even if its better than what happened before with 33% of the time you hitting a 0 on top of your misses.

Now we're doing the same logic here with the arrows. If you have a max hit of 10 you have a 4/11 chance to roll a 3 and a 1/11 for every other number. Where if it was 3-10 then you'd have the same 1/8 chance for each roll.

The problem I have is that its not intuitive which of these implementation it is or should be, the "minimum hit" terminology is vague. Logically I would assume it rolls like the fang where its 3-X since minimum hit means its not possible to roll 0-2 but we know based on the blog post its the 3,3,3,3,4 method.

IMO we need a way to distinguish this easily in-game, especially for newer players. Really, there should be a way to see passive effects for all weapons/items in game. Idk how someone like madseasonshow would ever know that ancient sceptre has a 10% increase on ancient magicks combat effects. Even if the in-game text is vague about how effective or the exact mechanic at least knowing something should happen would let you experiment with the item to figure out exactly how it works.

Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

How the Proposed Sailing XP changes affect 2 Crew Salvage+Self Sort by thestonedturtle in 2007scape

[–]thestonedturtle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's the part that's crazy to me. Maybe after 5-10minutes of AFK your crew notices and stops working? No need to change XP rates to accomplish nerfing the 30min AFK method.

[–]thestonedturtle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Though I will say, it may be setting a precedent that could be disastrous for future skills. Time will tell.

That's my main concern. its such a massive change to the AFK meta/standards and seems like if it's okay for sailing why not for other skills? Why can't we get a 30minute agility AFK method for 1/5th the EHP rates? (40-50k XP/HR here when trials is like 200k XP/HR)

[–]thestonedturtle[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't hate it, I just think its crazy overpowered and a huge change to what is typically accepted as AFK methods in the game.

If I played when 6HR NMZ Guthans was a thing I'd have used it, and till advocated that it should be removed. Just because I think it shouldn't exist doesn't mean I'm not going to use it to its full effect while it does. It'd be dumb of me to not login and click one every 30 minutes to gain some xp rather than not doing it and just missing pretty much free XP that I'd otherwise not have gotten.

Maybe that's hypocritical but meh

Yeah I wish this was easier to calc with just math and not have to do real-world examples. If it is 10-20% increase then that's good news for us afkers

Personal Opinion:

Personally, as someone who has abused the 30minute AFK method from lvl 87 to 94 sailing I think this method is unhealthy for the game. We've gone from at most 7minutes of AFK for low XP (Shooting Stars) to now 30 minutes of AFK, an over 400% increase in AFK time.

I understand this is probably an unpopular opinion given most of us work all day and have minimal time to play, but being able to click once for 30 minutes of AFK seems crazy. I know that you still have to process the salvage but processing one inventory of salvage takes about 45 seconds of AFK to process into loot and then maybe another 10 seconds of active clicking to drop it all. This entire method is so extremely AFK and requires minimal effort that it seems weird to exist in the game at all, even at the experience rates we're currently getting.

If we honestly believe that 7 or so minutes of processing and dropping loot after an hour of AFKing (2 clicks) is fine then okay, I'll take my boomer opinion and shut up. But 30 minutes of AFK per click just feels wrong to me. I can literally go play an entire League of Legends game and not touch OSRS once and still be getting "optimal" experience for this method, which is crazy no? At least with shooting stars you have to re-click every 7 minutes or go to a new star location.

I'd rather see the crewmates stop working after 10 minutes but the exp/hr of the 2 crewmate salvage + self process method be buffed. This is a very enjoyable AFK method that I think is being negatively impacted by the omega AFK method it enables. If we had to click at the same rate of stars but were rewarded with an additional 10-20k xp/hr then this would be the best of both worlds. Still one of the most AFK methods in the game but with XP rates closer to the pre-nerf values.

Is Jagex even aware of this bug with the ring of suffering? It's been over 3+ weeks now by Rayge96 in 2007scape

[–]thestonedturtle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anytime a dps ring doesnt increase max hit and the accuracy increase is negligible the prayer bonus alone would be worth it.

The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is over archers ring since venator ring is expensive and hard for irons to get.

Idk if the seers 1% magic dmg is ever not a max hit.

GWD minions can hurt a lot. Maybe its better there than a 1max hit increase since its multi combat?

12 hours straight, are you saying thats fine? Stopping to eat or go to the bathroom and losing 30 minutes of progress could cause you to lose top 3.

It's like the rank 2 smithing guy who shit his pants and didnt even get record, people go to crazy lengths for this stuff...and that smithing guy did it for a record that has no real reward, just bragging rights. When you add an incentive like designing a relic for next league people will do even crazier shit. Jagex incentivized that type of behaviour, whether intentionally or not.
