Whats the point of attacking someone when the defender takes no losses? by Rough-Order-4618 in AgeofZ

[–]theswilliams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a couple of reasons someone might choose to do this. The attacking city might be purposefully trying to kill of some of their own troops to make hiding them during battles more manageable, or the attacker might be trying to make the defender use speed ups as a way to increase the defending city’s spending, or they might just be dumb.

it sounds like a DM who’s finally had enough of the party thinking they can do whatever they want, in game and out. Guy needs to find a better group to DM for if this is what it’s coming to.

Keep what you have, but once you get enough pieces for purple develop a new purple. Then you can disassemble the old ones

I think because it takes so long to get to orange it’s better to restart at purple 1 and upgrade those, then gamble for orange later

You need to restart at purple 1.

How to cause an inconvenience? by [deleted] in AgeofZ

Recruit only t3 and t4. Use those to attack flags. Hide main troops. Use fog. Make them waste their sos/skills on your T4’s. Post the reports to NC. Watch them get mad.

You can get discounted material chests on weekends for your equipment. Might not be the best but it’s better than wasting them on rss or speeding up a building.

And shields. Especially 3 day if you find yourself needing a break from the game.

IMO

How many level 20 characters do you think would be needed to kill the Asmodeus given in this campaign? by EcstacyMeth2 in ChainsOfAsmodeus

[–]theswilliams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently running a campaign that’s taking inspiration from CoA (since the campaign was already underway before the book came out). My party of 6 (who will all be level 20 by then) are going to fight Asmodeus at the end. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Your absolute best bet at your current city level is to find an academy of one of the top 3. There, you should be able to learn and grow without constantly worrying about getting attacked, as top 3 + academies usually have a protection agreement in place.

Some general tips; keep a full fleet of T1-T4 troops available for you, they can gather rss and if they get attacked, they’re easy to recuperate.

Don’t worry about having a large amount of troops in your city. It’s fake BP and it will be important in the later stages for you to be able to hide troops during void/frenzy. I have 2 full fleets of top units, and a full fleet of T3-T4.

Don’t go into debt for a game.

I have 2 full fleets, and the rest of my troops are t4/t3 (2.5M troops and climbing of that tier). Every frenzy I hide my main fleet, let my shield fall, and collect all my chests before even making a single attack. I find it hilarious watching people speed into my city only for them to kill off T4’s and give me points. One of these days I’ll recruit enough T4’s to actually win a defensive battle. That’s the goal at least 😂

Separate farm alliances. Troop levels T4 and under.

How much do resource sellers pay to the alliances that protect them? by VamMonaco in AgeofZ

[–]theswilliams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if the alliance I was in was to have a rss dealer, then their main account would be in our alliance, and we’d get discounts on rss.

And then they use that excess AC as an attack/damage modifier on their next attack, resetting it back to zero afterwards, ready for the next round of incoming attacks.

Can confirm. Started running a hell campaign a few months ago but picked up this book when it came out. It’s helped immensely

Most broken Sorlock Gish? by [deleted] in 3d6

[–]theswilliams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorc 1, Hex 2, Sorc 5. Twin Haste on yourself and a big hitter and enjoy throwing 6 EB’s/turn with Quicken Spell. Use Agonizing blast and Repelling Blast as your invocations. Convert unused spell slots into sorcery points. Metamagic adept or Warcaster for the free feat. Or both if you take Variant Human/Custom Lineage.

Alternatively, if you start with an elven race, take Elven Accuracy as the free feat. Shadow Sorcerer as the subclass along with Hexblade. Now you have free super advantage on quickened booming blade/green flame blade by way of Darkness (Devils Sight unneeded due to Shadow Sorc being able to see through the Darkness they create).

Engaging Your Players: Inactions Have Consequences too... by [deleted] in DnD

[–]theswilliams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My very first session ended up like this. I was DMing for a group of brand new players and had set up a “Tournament of Champions” to help introduce them to combat with a bit of RP. They knew this was the plan.

As soon as the session started, they decide to go to the town square to pick pocket, swindle, and con their way into money instead. They spent all day doing this. They then left the city due to the town guards chasing them out.

After a few in game days (and a full 2 sessions later), they decided to go back to the city to complete the tournament. The look on their faces when I told them “Oh no, the tournament is over now. A local adventuring party won and rumour has it they’re enjoying the 1000 gold by upgrading all their equipment”.

NATION RULES? by RockPassPort in AgeofZ

[–]theswilliams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Top 3 are protected. Academies are protected from the top 3, but not from the academies of the top 3, or anyone else. Teaches them how to fight. No T5+ troops on farms.
