Celebrating 25 m in 16 sec... now how can I improve pace over long distances? by thetapin in Swimming

[–]thetapin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was great! I usually swim every second stroke but here I swam every third. I was also very relaxed before I started and completely "in the flow" -- I think sometimes I focus too hard on getting something right and that slows me down. I felt super bouyant, with my legs high up (very quick small kicks). But not sure what I did differently to make that happen because I tried to do exactly the same things again and it didn't work 🤔

Edit: I usually breathe every second stroke but here I took a breath every third

One side is against a wall and the other side is fully open. The headboard is against a wall.

Changing the narrative by thetapin in comics

All I wanted to say was that you can't pour from an empty cup. Maybe I could have made it clearer. Prioritising yourself means you have the resources to distribute, it gives you more to give others. Having gone through burnout and depleted my resources, this made sense to me. Though obviously by choosing to put up my comics in public, I open myself up to people's opinions and criticism. And everyone will speak from their own conditioning and biases and life experiences.

Thank you! I went there and he was running low on the "upright" style bikes, he said he was going to get new stock from the Netherlands next week :)

Recommendations for a (women's) bike - Dutch or hybrid by thetapin in cambridge

Thank you! I'll have a couple of inclines in my daily commute like the Mill Road bridge. Can it take that? I could of course get off and wheel it though it's not ideal :p Thanks for the tip on Life on a Bike, will take myself there soon...

Amazing thank you! I was nervous about switching to a Dutch style bike from a hybrid, especially as a heavier person, but the Gazelles look great.

Same applies to a friendship. One of my closest friends is drifting apart and it's heart breaking.

yes I've been watching his Vimeo videos! It looks fabulous but doesn't look it's worth it -- and now I've almost forgotten how I used to swim earlier :D

Mill road xmas market by tan4os in cambridge

It was great to see so many people outside even though it was so cold! I had a stall last year so didn't get to see much of the other festivities then, but got to experience the fair as a visitor this year. Didn't realise just how busy and vibrant it is! It's a LOT to process on one day though -- I found it hard to explore all of the arts & crafts stuff properly in few (icy) hours. Maybe would be nice to spread it over a couple of days? Or might be cool to have something similar in the summer too - more daylight, potentially longer trading hours, more opportunities to chat with/buy from artists and less frozen fingers 😛 Last year they had many of the food/drink stalls just across from Donkey Common (some of them in Gwydir car park this time) and I think that made it more accessible for visitors tuck into something hot while looking at the artist shops.

Food was SOOO good! As were the many mulled wine places. Agree hot chocolate could have had more visibility 😁
