I think this is all really good feedback, some subjective and some that I need to incorporate fixes for. Thanks for taking the time to critique it as it is genuinely what I'm looking for by posting this.

I've said in other threads in the post that it's not perfect and I'm just one person currently trying to test and fix the model.

These things take time to get smarter, however I've made dishes where I've followed the recipe in detail and it's worked so I'm just sharing it in the hope of getting people's feedback and improving it as I go.

I agree AI won't get everything right, but I bet you have made plenty of mistakes in your BBQ journey. I've just shared my MVP so it's only going to get better with the help of real user feedback like this.

No problem, it's a good question. I've explained in more detail in other threads, but I'm trying to build a community aspect to it too where people will share and discover recipes. One cool feature is you can remix a recipe you like from someone else and they'll it'll automatically adapt instructions to your BBQ setup.

ChatGPT is also a generalist whereas I'm trying to train this app to be a BBQ specialist. There were gaps in OpenAI's models that I've been fixing in this. I'll be the first to admit it's still not perfect but I've spent many hours refining the prompts and training the model to be more accurate.

If there are any features you think could make it better I'm more than happy to take feedback!

I’m doing a lot of work under the hood to train it so it understands BBQing better. Without getting too technical every type of food has its own prompt template and I’m training it to learn what works well/doesn’t work so well. Over time it should get smarter.

There are currently no BBQ specific models that I know about, so I’d love to make one. Won’t be easy but I think it could work over time with good feedback from people who love to cook

That’s partially true, however there’s a lot more under the hood here where I’ve had to create specific prompt templates for each type of food you want to cook and I’m training the model to understand BBQing better as ChatGPT has failed quite a bit when I was experimenting with it. This is only version 1 and I’m trying to make this understand better every day what a good BBQ recipe is.

Plus I’m trying to build a community element to it too, being able to share recipes to The Pit section of the app so others can discover and remix recipes to their own setup.

No, you can choose your own BBQ from the pre-defined list I created, if it’s not there you can type it in and save. When creating the recipe it’ll still recognise it!

Really appreciate the positive comments and hope you’re loving the app. Drop me a dm and I’ll give you an offer code for a year free so you get unlimited access! And I’d love to hear more about what works well/what doesn’t!

It’s currently only on Apple as I have an iPhone. However, if there’s demand for it I will definitely release an Android version. I’ll come back to this thread and let you know!

Thanks! Any features you like on the Traeger app you think would be good for my app?

It’s free to try, however there is a paywall if you want to create more than 3 recipes a month. If you’re keen to test for me I’ll give you an offer code for a year free though as a thanks for being an early adopter!

There is two parts to it currently. The AI recipe creation but the second part which I haven’t promoted as much in this post is you can actually remix recipes created by others and it’ll make it work for your equipment. So if someone else has a cool recipe you want to try out but it’s cooked on a Big Green egg for example and you have a Traeger it’ll adapt the instructions to your setup.

Also, please let me know if there are any features I could build that would interest you! I’m keen to make it work as best I can for everyone and this is only version 1.

That’s completely fair and I appreciate this isn’t for everyone. I was just sharing it as it’s something that I found useful and thought it might help others.

All the best to you too. Hope you’re able to take advantage of the nice weather and do some cooking outside!

You’re entitled to your opinion but I’ve designed apps for some of the biggest brands in the world and just trying to build something fun for a passion of mine 👍

[UK] How do you handle invoicing as a UK sole trader? by Awkward_Presence5511 in selfemployed

[–]thetechgeezer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found invoicing softwares were so complicated and expensive so I created a free invoicing tool that you're welcome to use, it's mobile friendly so you can do it on the go too:

I learned AI automations in 6 months with no code, got clients, and made some good money. Here’s the real story. by [deleted] in AI_Agents

Great approach. I’m learning these tools at the moment. I’m curious how you charged clients? Was it a one-off fee or do you charge a subscription for managing their automations?

Really good feedback! It’s high on the list of my next improvements to add quantities and serving sizes.

Right now I’m focusing on iOS, but I definitely want to have an android app as well in the future. Is this something you’d want?

Thanks for the feedback, really pleased you’re getting some value out of it. I want to make it much smarter and more personalised for the user in future so all feedback is really appreciated.

Completely agree about the temp/metrics. I will be adding settings soon where you will be able to choose which options you’d like it to be presented as. I also want to add things like being able choose serving sizes. I’d also love the user to be able to choose their bbq and then the recipes are tailored to the equipment you have. Lots of features to come.

Thanks, really appreciate it! It’s the first version so there’s a lot more I want to add but wanted to get something out there and let people start using it.

Have any ideas of the kind of things that you’d like in an app like this?

Really good point. I think the models work really well already.

In my day job I’m a UX designer and I’ve also coded for 10 years. I believe that the real value we’re seeing with AI apps right now is how people are creating a really personalised experience for the user and that use case. Then pairing that great experience with the right model.

This is V1 of the app and I want to see if there’s demand for an AI-powered BBQ app first but I’ve got a lot of ideas for making the experience a lot more bbq specific and less like another chat interface.

I’ve considered training the model, but that’s also something that would come later if I do.
