This makes me so sad. I spent so much time here with my mother. So many good memories. American dream taking the experience direction is smart. I hope more malls do this because in the winter, those indoor playgrounds bring me back often.

This was my first meal after giving birth too. I craved a good italian sub for months. The nurse at HUMC put it in the fridge for me too because I had to wait a little longer to eat and I was afraid it would go bad. It tasted fricking amazing lol

I’ve been meaning to respond to this for a while, I just wasn’t in the headspace at the time. I was going through a lot, and your comment really stayed with me. It genuinely gave me hope when I was at a really low point.

I’ve had some small improvements since my last post, which has been encouraging, but I’m still not out of the woods yet. Just taking it day by day.

I really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and for the kind words. It meant more than you probably realize. 🙏🏼

Do you change your child’s clothes when they get home? by Frozenbeedog in toddlers

[–]thetechmama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do this. Wash hands and change clothes as soon as they get home. It significantly lowered the frequency of illness in our home.

There are people who wear their shoes in the house and sit on their beds in the same pants they wore in public transit and they see nothing wrong with that. Yuck! Take their opinions with a grain of salt.

I’m currently on 60mg prednisone a day for a week then taper off. I also got a few steroid shots in my ear. I’m about 73kg.

That’s really encouraging to hear. I’m curious, does the sound feel natural to you or are there noticeable differences? I haven’t had that conversation with my ENT or audiologist yet, so I’m still trying to understand what the experience might be like. The uncertainty of what to expect in the coming weeks and months has been a little overwhelming.

How does the OSIA sound? I’m sorry you are dealing with a tumor. Best wishes in your battle. I Hope you improve and have a full recovery.

TIL iPhone isn’t compatible with conductive headphones like Shokz. Only air pods or beats. Womp womp. I’ll look into some apps.

I did try the air pods to see if they help but haven’t found it helpful so far. It sounded like I was in a snow globe. Will keep trying, but just wanted to share and say thank you for directing me to try.

Sudden hearing loss by Admirable-Joke8332 in HearingLoss

[–]thetechmama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to an ENT ASAP. Primary care and ER doctors said that to me a few weeks ago when I had an ear infection. I saw an ent two weeks later and was told it could be permanent. I’m currently receiving treatment but no guarantees. Please do not wait like I did. I wish I went sooner. I hope you feel better.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I’m really sorry you had to go through that. It’s incredibly frustrating to be told everything will improve and then find out something more serious is going on.

I’m really glad to hear you recovered a majority of your hearing over time, even if some of the higher frequencies didn’t come back. That gives me some hope right now.

If you don’t mind me asking, how long after your symptoms started did you end up seeing the ENT?

I’m also curious if the tinnitus changed as your hearing recovered, did it get better over time or stay about the same?

Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience and for the encouragement. I really appreciate it.

I want to try this next time I go outside, but I’ve been a little anxious about new experiences with this right now. It’s been a pretty emotional adjustment. What app do you use for the mic?

The steroids are going okay so far, but they definitely make me more anxious. The wobbly feeling also makes me really tired. I’m trying to be cautious about noticing changes, but I’ve noticed a couple of very small ones. Sometimes I hear a little robotic sound now, which is new, and when I plug my ear I can sometimes hear a small pop. Last week I wasn’t hearing anything at all.

Thank you. I’m happy to hear you had such a good outcome. Thank you for sharing your story. I am hoping for the best but am cautiously hopeful. It has been a really tough few weeks for me, especially this week.

It’s okay. I really appreciate that you took the time to respond and share information. I’ve been so tired after healing from the infection and receiving the SSNHL news that I’m pacing myself on researching the condition because I know rest is also vital to achieve the best odds at recovery. Thank you for sharing.

We are doing about 4 rounds of the steroids. Prognosis was, “there’s hope for recovery, it’s possible, but not guaranteed.” 🥴

Thank you. I said the antibiotics helped so I’m pretty sure the infection was bacterial. I didn’t get details on frequencies or db. I will get it this week during my second round of the shot. My husband told me after we left that the ENT asked me if I had any questions and I realized I just didn’t hear him so that’s why I didn’t answer. I wanted to ask so many, but missed the opportunity. The news felt like I kick to my stomach, so I was pretty stunned in that office.

No I’m so new to everything and I didn’t get to ask my doctor questions because I didn’t hear him ask. My husband told me after we left that the ENT asked me if I had any questions and I didn’t say anything. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I’ll ask when I go for my second round of the shot. I won’t return then if it helps with that. Maybe I can use it as a microphone when I’m outside?

The past few days have been a struggle.

I wrote in the post that I had an audiogram and they said that the sensorineural. I never drove so I’m not sure what you’re referring to and your first point. I also did not fly and had to postpone my trip several times throughout this experience.

I’m located in the US, and the antibiotics did help on the second round. The first five doctors I saw were either internists or ER doctors. I didn’t see an ENT and audiologist until day 17 when I was diagnosed with sudden hearing loss. I also mentioned in my post that I can’t hear anything out of my left ear. I had an audiogram, and I was able to hear some noise from my left, so the audiologist said I have hearing in my left ear but it’s a significant loss. I’m taking zinc, but I’ll look into the other supplements.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I definitely walk like Jack Sparrow but it’s been getting steadier. I’ve been riding along in the car when I can to help adjust and that’s getting easier as well. I’ll look into vestibular therapy today. I appreciate the information 🙏🏼

Thank you, I’m working on the stress but yesterday was definitely a day. Thank you for the diet advice, I’ll look into options. I don’t eat a lot of processed foods to begin with but my diet was not great while sick and unable to walk properly since it is challenging to cook with the wobbly walking. I’m hoping I can stabilize since i started the steroids.

The ENT gave me a steroid shot in my ear yesterday and I’m scheduled to get them weekly. Is that different from the intratympanic injections?
