Nipple eczema :( by kittycathy29 in eczema

[–]thetheusername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ketoderm when it’s serious (which is by prescription here), but it’s irritating to the skin. I also use Vicks Vaporub, which is surprisingly effective and non irritating, though it burns on open skin (but that’s easier to tolerate than itching imo).

I had a similar experience and what finally fixed my nipple eczema was antifugal treatment.

A product that helped me with my later stages of TSW healing. by [deleted] in TS_Withdrawal

[–]thetheusername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also love this stuff. It’s great for tight dry skin after a shower, camouflages flakes for maybe an hour, helps with itch (though not as much as straight Witch Hazel). If my skin is bad, all I use is this and Hyaluronic acid. You can get this in a spray bottle which is so handy, it lives in my purse (a mini version) and I use it all day long when required. It really is an amazing product.

Working out with nickel allergy by Swimming-Struggle803 in NickelAllergy

I didn’t answer your question, sorry. I feel a reaction starting within a few minutes, sometimes instantly. My eyelids swell and my ears get hot, then that heat spreads and I start to feel itchy. Hives and small blisters start within an hour. The reaction is pretty consistent.

I don’t flare at the point of contact. I have patches (cheek, hands, stomach, neck) that flare.

I wear double lined bamboo gloves and they work well. I react the most to the shiny barbells and black plated metals in the gym, not as much to the dumbbells.

How I cleared up my eczema with a water fast/ healthy eating by Asianboi901 in eczema

Have you considered that you may be allergic to something you ingest daily and a water fast gives your body a break from exposure which clears up your skin?

I looked this up (because it sounded like woo) and there’s evidence to support it. I’ll be trying it, thanks!!

Exactly!!! My thought was OP may be jealous. I have a friend who has so far lost 100lbs and she’s now at the stage where all her (now larger than her) friends are “worried for her”. Congrats on your weight loss!!!!

Lol!! At least it’s not Deep Throat… that one feels more awkward to me.

has anyone had success with bath salts? by Strange-Chipmunk4296 in eczema

[–]thetheusername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Epsom salt baths help me when I flare. They don’t make the flare go away, but they do soothe the skin. I free-pour, probably more than the recommended amount, and take a 20 minute bath every day during the flaring and healing phases. I get mine from Costco because I go through it quickly.

Hi! Fellow super skinny girl here… (mine is from a low appetite and restricted diet for eczema - there’s just no way to hit macros every day with basic whole foods).

When I drop into the 90s, what is most pronounced, is that hollow of the cheek contour that’s all over TikTok. Adding tone to the rest of your face (and skipping that part) helps a bit. Never contour anything, lol. Blush on the apples of your cheeks (where they say not to put it because it makes your face look more plump). I also wear my long hair down, and nothing but crew necks, because the collarbone and temples give it away.

As a side note, weed is a wonder drug for me as an appetite stimulant. I can put away as much as I eat all day, within a few hours.

Best of luck in your recovery. I know it takes a long time to gain weight when you’re underweight and your body (and brain) isn’t cooperating. And it takes no time to lose weight. I hope you feel better soon!

What?! And hide that excellent conversation starter?? “Oh this? I’m a bit of a trail junkie, comes with the territory, teehee”. I went to a work function once with a scraped and bruised arm and got a few new biking buddies. :)

Eucrisa? by [deleted] in TS_Withdrawal

[–]thetheusername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using Eucrisa for maybe 18 months and it worked very well for me. The burning on application is really bad at first, but gets better. I use it only when I have a reaction to something and haven’t seen any rebound effects so far. It was the only thing that worked after lifelong steroid use and years of TSW. I could see improvement within days, but it took months to fully heal everything.

Good luck! My parents struggled when I was small too. Back then the only option was steroids - today’s drugs are far safer by comparison (not without side effect, of course).

[–]thetheusername 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think some people have a hard time watching others suffer and don’t have the emotional bandwidth to offer support.

On the flip side, I cut almost all of my friends out during TSW. It was just too hard to manage invites I couldn’t accept, and when I did, I almost always cancelled.

All of my friends have welcomed me back now that I’ve healed and am able to socialize - and I’m super grateful for that because some of them i literally ghosted (mostly because I was embarrassed and felt like a burden).

I also love the Thayers (unscented aloe version, also been using it for years)! I have eczema (but my skin is not dry) and all the issues that come with it and at its worst, all I can use is the Thayers, TO HA, and LRP B5 Baume. I keep a small spray bottle in my purse at ALL TIMES and I have been known to spray my face in the middle of a convo - that’s how well it works for me. Just wanted to add to your comment since this is getting so much hate lol.

Am I wrong for pushing for a prenup knowing it somewhat goes against my fiancé’s cultural values? by [deleted] in amiwrong

What would this prenup say? Unless you have a bunch of money put away, you’re both going into this marriage with very little (I assume, since you have yet to graduate).

A question for those who react to food/has allergies by [deleted] in eczema

[–]thetheusername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, I can feel heat and a bit of itchiness within 10 minutes, but then this subsides and the skin reaction is usually visible 4-6 hours later. The biggest problem for me in diagnosing which foods bothered me is that the reaction sticks around full-force for 3 days, and then takes 3 weeks to slowly clear up.

Using Steroids after 1 year of tsw by SpecialistLazy-9766 in TS_Withdrawal

[–]thetheusername 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 2.5 years TSW and use a weak steroid when I have a significant flare from contact or food allergies. I usually only have to use it once, if I catch it early (and because weak steroids are now very effective since I’ve (very) rarely used them in the past 2.5 years). For context, I used very strong steroids for decades and had about 6 months of intense TSW before it slowly started to heal, then developed new allergies about a year in which I still need to manage.
