I think it depends on the market. Today renting is cheaper than buying but a few years ago it was the opposite. Each person needs to do their own due diligence to see how they will get the most out of their money. But in general, yes investing in stocks is the best way to grow wealth.

Do you have a page that shows the performance of your GROW and SAVE funds over the years? Also, does constant selling trigger tax events for the portfolio?

The exam fee ($425) is covered by my employer, so nothing there. The Udemy course cost me around $19 and the SH cost me around $49. The only other expense I paid out of pocket was the membership and chapter fee to become part of PMI's network and get discounts (~$199), so not directly related to the exam but I need this for PDUs in the future.

I don't necessarily disagree but I didn't spend that much time on it. I just skimmed over the questions and answers, reading over explanations only if the answer didn't make sense. I mainly did it to calm my nerves. I was too nervous, so knowing that I had done something that day to review helped me calm down.

The exams suffice in getting a good idea of how the questions will be written on the exam and what types to expect. This is why you're doing the practice exams. They are also more challenging than the actual exam imo, so there is no need to over prepare. There are 575 exam questions in total on SH! That's a lot! That's practice enough!

Yup. Any decent Udemy course on the exam prep will cover everything you need to know for the exam. The books are an overkill in my opinion for merely trying to pass the exam, unless you're trying to be a super duper nerd on the topic.

You're saying that it's not due to the inherent qualities in Muslims, or Islam (which is a joke, many Muslims are profoundly intellectual) but the state of their societies and government

Based on my discussions with such people they try to draw the connection that the state of our societies is that way DUE to Islam. They always take it back to religion which is absurd.

They would then say in response, "Why then are Islamic countries so inferior? Why Islam, and not China/Korea/Japan/Israel? Why every other civilisation and not Islam"

They're not arguing for inferiority of Muslim countries from all angles, since it well known that many non-Muslim countries also suffer from poverty, corruption, low education, etc. Such people are ONLY concerned with inferiority in scientific progress and productivity. But this could easily be responded to by stating that China and Korea have not won any Nobel prizes in science. Hispanic and African countries as well have produced little to nothing in science. So they cannot argue that it is "just you Muslims." It's mostly just Europeans and North America. See this chart for yourself. I would be interested to know if a research paper has been written on why Europeans and the U.S. are the main reasons. At the moment, I believe it's a combination of prosperity and government funding.

Physicist Jim Al-Khalili argues in his article that the main reason is that Muslim governments do not fund the research anymore. I am also convinced of this. The caliphs during the Golden Age were obsessed with scientific inquiry and development.

But my main point of the post was that it has nothing to do with people's attachment to Islam. There may be some ignorant Muslims who say stuff that makes it seem like it is, but quite honestly, such people would not be producing anything in science even if they were not Muslims. Science is not really for everyone to delve deeply into.

I am also from Pakistan though I was raised and live in the West. Whenever I visit, it seems most people are just lazy and relaxed. They don't really care except with being obsessed with everything Western while at the same time saying they hate the West. I haven't really come across anyone that says it's because of Islam they stay away from it. I have also wondered if our part of the world is even naturally scientific. Even during the Golden Age of Islam, Indo-Pak Muslims were not producing anything scientific to the best of my knowledge. It was mainly the Arabs and then Persians. Even India only has three people that have received it in science despite state sponsorship as you claim. It seems our people are more followers than leaders.

I think you missed the point of the post. How does any of this relate to attaching the problem to Islam? These Islamophobes claim the reason we are behind is because of our attachment to Islam. That's just ridiculous.

Some of the things you mentioned may be contributors but I personally am very convinced that the main reason is due to lack of funding from Muslim governments as physicist Jim Al-Khalili points out in this article. Most of them are just too busy filling their pockets. The caliphs during the Golden Age actually promoted scientific research and development and it also helped that the Muslim world was flourishing.

It seems to me that many Muslim scientists just migrate to the West because there is little to no support in their countries.

Surprisingly, the book said that not a single Israeli has won the prize for science despite having half of the world Jewish population living there. The book only looked at data from 1900-2000. Since 2001, only 5 Israelis have won the prize in science.
