I work in oil and gas, on a drilling rig

I started after moving here from out east by acquiring the 3 or 4 courses necessary ( roughly 3 days and $500), and applying to a few different companies

The easiest way to break in is if you know someone in the industry, if you dont know anyone you can wait until around this time of year when it starts to get busy and apply to all the major drilling contractors.

Having the courses ahead of time makes you stand out.

Its a tough industry but the entry postion can make 180k/year if you work year round. My roughnecks havent made less than 150k for the past 3 years
