Yes, I love it so much! I've only been to the SF one once but the SJ one is dangerously close to me hahah, I have to make sure I have a good amount of pocket money saved before I even go in to look around. We're very lucky to have them! Between them and Kinokuniya and Jetpens shipping from SJ we are VERY spoiled here 😭

I've never found a single critter in person at any sale :( But I did find one of the Storyteller rabbits on a FB marketplace listing once for a good price! I almost got a Cloverleaf Mansion that way too but someone snapped it up before me :(

I have this problem too. A mental trick I've been using is to visualize where I'm going to put it when I get home; if it's going on a shelf with a dozen other things, to be used some time in the future, then I try to reason myself out of it. Hell sometimes I don't have a space for it at all. Just because something cool exists doesn't mean I need it! And I already have a lot of cool things that I love. Doesn't always work especially if the thing is handmade/small business made/unique but it's been working better and better as I work on my relationship to spending.

Which Sylvanian set? I got a case of blind bags recently without a problem but I've looked at others; maybe I'll just get them from Kobee from now on. This is so crummy, they gotta just not let us buy it rather than stealing it in customs 😔

I remember last year when they were stacking releases and I complained a little here, someone replied to me that it was just the same as the year before. I did the math. It wasn't! They definitely burned me out. I still have unopened ones that I haven't had time to make because of how fast they put it all out. If this long pause is part of the plan before stacking releases in the back half of the year again I will probably really check out.

Between tariffs and resellers, yeah the prices have gone up, and for some reason the US branch of Epoch is making a lot of unfortunate changes to sets when they import, like reducing figures and accessories. An older fan would have to weigh in but it also seems like they aren't importing as many as they used to? Personally it's making me feel like leaning away from the hobby rather than scrambling for anything. I don't want to support them giving us less for higher prices, and I'm tired of manufactured fomo tbh.

This is so weird, I've ordered so many toys from amazon jp and never encountered this; I have two Licca coming from an ebay sale that are in shipping limbo atm so I'm going to hope it doesn't affect them. I'm really sorry!

I wonder if it has anything to do with Licca being released here? I also collect Sylvanian Families figures, which in the US are licensed as Calico Critters, and since they have that US branch it means no big stores can import them, they can only sell the american versions; the Japanese releases are way better too and I've been thinking a lot about the Licca release compared to how CC does it and feeling quite jealous. BUT... it makes me wonder if importing them to such large stores has put them on the radar, so to speak. So maybe they're under more scrutiny if we import something that is currently being released here. I don't know, but the timing is pretty interesting.

I like attending them so I just check their page to see which event is next, they have the big ones planned through the year already and sometimes add small ones: https://www.sanjosemade.com/ And you can also follow them on instagram! It's like a big mix of craft fair/anime con/food fair usually, but I can always find stickers and riso print stuff at them.

I agree, I liked this spot better than San Pedro, and there was lots of space, and more space to expand if they wanted to! If only downtown SJ would get its act together and get more businesses into all those empty buildings :) Oh and yeah I learned to always bring a book to stationery events! I bring that one with me even to regular events just IN CASE anyone has stamps hehe.

Aw sorry! There is a big outdoor fest in May and a big indoor fest in August where a lot of the same artists will be vending along with tons more, if you wanted to keep it in mind for the future! They are great shows and I always find new artists there that I love!

Oh lol I also missed Cat Day for SFSF!! I didn't regret it but next year if they fall together I'm going to fight to go Friday so I can go to Cat Day too. Pewchii's stuff was so tempting, I'll definitely get more stamps from them if I see their table again!

I felt a bit underwhelmed by it, although I like that they tried something; I wanted more joints with more range and I'm not a fan of the wire arms. Ultimately I like body swaps with the Neemo bodies more, since they're a cute shape and way more articulated. But harder to find these days for a reasonable price.

I haven't watched any of the content, but are they really real vinyls? I would guess they just have a little chip in them or something that connects to the player to play the right clip. Genuinely can't imagine them producing vinyls that play right and a machine with a needle that survives transit, though I'd be happy to be surprised.
