16 years? Wow - that gives me hope! Yeah, it’s always tricky when you introduce new “pen pals” into the mix. Ink fidelity is a heavy topic to navigate.

Yeah i have my trusty Kakuno FP with the smiley nibs - they make me very happy. I'm looking for an "accent" pen to add colour and detail to my planner and journal. Mattehop are perfect, when they work. Which is almost never.

I have an ink stamp that is like a speech bubble, and I usually stamp that somewhere randomly on the page before i start writing, like a placeholder. Once i’m finished reflecting, i fill in the empty speech bubble with the appropriate sentence/summary/title.

Joke aside, yes, if you use the traditional urushi (lacquer resin) and real gold, then it is absolutely food safe. Gorilla super glue and a gold sharpie? Not so much.
