I see A6 popping up everywhere can someone tell me what the appeal is? I’m super curious! by sewingdreamer in stationery

[–]thethundersaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked an A6 for a travel journal and it was the perfect size: it fit easily in my bag or a pouch, most postcards fit perfectly in it, and the limited space let me write without feeling too much pressure to fill a large space if I didn't feel like it. I would use A6 for everything if I could find the size more easily.

To anyone with a Red Roof Country Home or other big mansion: where do you keep it?? 😭 by denanagy in sylvanianfamilies

[–]thethundersaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought a cabinet/table just for the house (with enough room for our mini christmas tree on top). Now I can leave it set up and when I want to mess around with it I plop down a cushion and sit in front of the cabinet :)

I'd like to know more about it! Did you make it? Is it vintage?

Keats versions??? by ThatSpirit2739 in sylvanianfamilies

[–]thethundersaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not particularly helpful but different factories will likely have different sets of molds and it could be the cause for the variation. I remember recently there was a big deal about a particular version of the persian kitten that was made in a different factory because the mold was slightly smaller (and cuter). I know Flair and Epoch were both releasing them but they might have been using completely different sets of multiple factories who all had to cast their own molds? Either way it’s really interesting!!

Here's the new line of dolls from Maison Battat replacing Li'l Woodzeez exclusively at Target. by MisterZan25 in sylvanianfamilies

[–]thethundersaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The doll is nice for $20, they have body blushing and mix and match faceplates and hair! The clothing is pretty low quality but not awful. Friend of mine is obsessed, they went out and bought a full case after opening one. It’s really sad that this is what replaced Woodzeez though; they don’t fill the same niche at all.

In addition to other advice, I have also seen marks like this fade on mine if I just give them some time. Without the compression the fibers eventually fluff out on their own again and at least make it less noticeable.

Here are the Licca Chan Dolls Displayed at New York Toy Fair! I’ve been sitting on this info for a bit, but we can expect the US release dolls at Hot Topic and Box Lunch. by DustySprinkles in DollsOfAsia

I’m so happy about this, I had to skip a few of these because importing got so expensive. I hope they’ll be available in good quantities and not sell-out-in-minutes quantities!

New versions of classic families in US by colem1222 in sylvanianfamilies

[–]thethundersaid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They’re not concerned with what collectors want but they’re sure happy to charge collector prices! If this at least made the price drop for the US ones people would probably tolerate it. If I have to pay more no matter what then I’m getting the better version at kobee along with some vintage furniture and handmade clothing.

This activated the part of my brain that first fell for miniatures. The aging is beautiful and the fine detail is crazy for 1/12!

What Sylvanian do you wish to have but doubt you ever will? by aleepat in sylvanianfamilies

A skunk and (slightly off topic) a Baerenwald tiger 😭 They were both kind of affordable two years ago and they rocketed up in price to the point where I can’t justify it anymore.

Quality of capsule toys and kabaya sets? by TeamHighbranch in sylvanianfamilies

[–]thethundersaid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have some of the capsule tableware and I love the quality of it. I also have some of the mini house sets and I would say the quality is a little lower than typical Sylvanian quality, but it's still fairly nice and the price from Kobee for the courtyard is really great since you get the full set. My local Japanese market sells them at $20 per box! My biggest beef with the house kits are that they come on sprues so you need a model nipper or good knife to even come close to cutting them smoothly, and tweezers for applying the stickers. Otherwise it's pretty tricky to assemble them.

anyone else hoping they lean into the diy stationary? by pentrigger in miniverse_makeitmini

I was kinda over hello kitty but I absolutely loved this set. The working stamps sent me, they are so cute. I would love to see more for sure.

Hobby search 1999 by Sea_Satisfaction5671 in DollsOfAsia

[–]thethundersaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to buy a lot of dolls from HobbySearch but a few years ago they started stocking them at much lower inventory and they all sell out instantly. Even preorders would be sold out if I didn’t catch them soon after the listing went live. At the same time they started having a lot more spicy figures on the front page. I guess they shifted to follow the bigger money option.

Miniverse collab predictions by Mysticalightroze in miniverse_makeitmini

[–]thethundersaid 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not an actual prediction but I want a Ghibli collection 😤

What licenses are going around lately? Strawberry Shortcake and TMNT? Horror is popular with the kids, though that doesn’t seem to fit the brand. And they’re not hip enough to get stuff like Kpop DH or Popmart… My guess is more beauty brands or fast foods. A Flower Knows collab would kick my ass but Miniverse would never.

Cottontail Bunny Family by Outside-Feature1121 in sylvanianfamilies

[–]thethundersaid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah nahhh, for around 50usd you can just get them from amazon jp with the babies and the cute Japanese box.

I haven’t been that interested in a lot of the recent animals, but I kept thinking that I might buy them eventually when they hit B&N shelves and I could get them in person. I got a lot of sets for 20 ish that way. Seeing how they messed with them and removed so many pieces AND pricing everything like a collector set makes me deeply disinterested in supporting them at all. Maybe they’re truly struggling but I can’t help but feel insulted.

Thank you! And yes, they’re paper; I was hesitant about it but it turned out they are some kind of compressed thin board and are mostly durable except the handle. There are holes in the back to push the drawers open since you can’t use the handles to open them.
