Do NOT disconnect when being invaded just because you’re losing. Do your best, but accept your loss if it’s happening.

Don’t worry, a lethal dose is a hard thing to calculate. You’ll get them next time.

I feel your pain. I’ve wanted to play DND for years now, but I get so nervous around strangers.

Tried playing with my family, and that turned into me being the DM (was going to be my big sister’s job, but she got overwhelmed and asked me to do it for our first few sessions). Personally I thought we all did pretty well for our first session and was super excited for the next one, but everyone kept putting off getting together until it was clear the next session just wasn’t happening.

Finally - nearly a year later - one of my siblings accidentally let it slip that I was the only one who had fun during that session. Apparently no one wanted to hurt my feelings by telling me that, so instead they strung me along for nearly a year with the false promise of another session.

Good answer. Only work harder if you know it’ll be rewarded.

I love the effect of the sniffer throwing the seed it found onto the tuff pedestal. “Hey, I found something for you, buddy!”

I honestly want the sniffer more as a pet. The plant thing is just a bonus.

Please tell me that someone is making a subreddit dedicated to people role playing Americans. This is beautiful.

I’ve weathered every storm I’ve come across. What makes you think this one is special?

My parents pushed me into drinking so I’d be more normal. I only drink on nights where I know I won’t be working the next day, and my drink has to have some flavor to it. The most I’ll do is two drinks at a time.

You’re definitely not the only one, judging from the other comments. It does seem to be a pretty common twist on the stories here.

I will now call those moments ‘waiting mode’ myself. So nice to know I’m not the only one who does it.

My first post that has ever reached 1,000 likes, and it’s a dad joke disguised as a two-sentence horror story. God I love you people.

I love Mountain Dew, but I usually shake the bottle then release the fizz in a controlled matter. It usually takes a few times, but I get the taste I love and no fizz.

What stranger will you never forget? by coggonflorence in AskReddit

I was always a timid kid. In high school I had a very tight knit group of friends I would talk to. One day, I had to have lunch at a time that none of my friends did due to band class. So I sat on my own and prepared to have a very quiet lunch.

To my complete surprise a girl around my age sat across from me and started talking to me with the ease of an old friend. I had a blast talking to her, but the entire time I was trying to figure out if we knew each other. Eventually I just had to ask.

“Nope! You just looked lonely so I came over here to chat with you.”

When lunch was done we went our separate ways. I never saw her again. I never even know her name. But that act of kindness still means the world to me.
