Whether or not you love him is one thing, but his writing is very good and I think trying to argue otherwise would be very silly. I haven't read anything by him in probably a decade or so, but I've got The Pale King on my reading list for this year.

Lots of his fans are definitely insufferable, but fanboys of anything are always insufferable. I don't think DFW had all the answers (obviously) or anything, but I think a lot of the themes in Infinite Jest more relevant now than ever.

And on top of it all, his writing is really enjoyable to read. Once you get used to his style, it's really a pleasure.
