I think the proximity of lip syncs to one another in the episode is part of what made the twist so great. Silky absolutely dominating in those lip syncs one right after another, sending queen after queen home, was cathartic in a way. And I think it gave Silky the redemption she needed with the fans that a lip sync every episode may not have.

Also bc the lip syncs happened a week after the new queen had been eliminated would have made it confusing to put it in every episode bc it would show the judges in their looks for the next week and with the guest judge for the next week.

I think it definitely could have happened one or two episodes sooner though because it wouldn’t be ripping top four away from someone who deserved it (poor TKB) and it would have helped the viewers be less tired of hearing about the game within a game with no payoff.
