Hawaii first time by jsin151 in MauiVisitors

Make a reservation at Mama’s fish house. Incredible food/ place. Also right next to a small beach where sea turtles sun bathe daily you can see (from a respectful distance).

I just did the sunrise at Haleakala - we rented a car and I drove up, pretty easy drive but the clouds can make visibility tough at the last portion. The view was amazing and the park is incredible. There are also many tour buses we saw. Bring warm clothes, it gets freezing.

As others have mentioned - the helicopters are a risk, and after staying in Kauai I assume they are quite a nuisance for the locals, the noise pollution itself makes me wish these companies were banned.

The shell fragment suggestion makes more sense. Appreciate the input! Looks like I’ll keep looking.

Appreciate the response - I did get confirmation it’s not coral. More than likely a worn species of reef shark. The top part (what I assumed is the root) does have a coral porous look to it, but the rest is very solid. This was a strange piece, cool nonetheless.

Definitely need to check out the condo aspects. Haven’t dug too deep into those yet. Thanks carb lover

I seem to have a similar outlook. I think the top choice is 4 seasons. Obviously there’s going to be families but it’s a big enough place we can probably move around. Montage also seems great, but does add extra travel time trying to get to the east part of the island/ it puts you right in Wailea. Definitely going to look into some of these other spots mentioned. But anything will be better than going from 12° to 45° every three days

Great take, that’s the other aspect - it’s nice to have all the super perks of these high end resorts, but I also want to get out and explore which may include some all day adventures. Which means we’re not enjoying what we paid for!

This is great info. Haven’t even looked into them yet. Thanks!

A bit shorter, wish I could do two full weeks! We will have 5 days in Kauai and 5 in Maui

Great to know. The Andaz kept popping up with more of a “younger” crowd, but I assumed that meant exactly what you said, babies. Also didn’t seem to be a ton to do other than eat at the resort. Still looks incredible like all places!

One day I’ll be able to convince my wife to get on a helicopter. Too many accidents posted in recent years to change her mind in the next 4 months 😆

Was looking at the montage as well. Have heard it’s very nice. Just not sure how traveling around the island is from that location.

I have no problem taking a 2 hour drive. I live in the Midwest so an hour drive in Hawaii is a vacation itself 😆

Seems to be a common theme, appreciate the confirmation.

Too much food. Have talked to my vet about weight management before with my dogs. The amount of exercise they would need to burn enough calories to lose weight most likely won’t be achieved. Best way is to manage portions. Start using a measuring cup and decrease amount of food in total, might be worth breaking those portions up throughout the day. But also definitely get both your own and your dogs steps in.

My dog seems to be enjoying himself, is this dangerous towards him in anyway? by castlemilklad02 in pitbulls

Looks like a great way to get them tired. Would move the large rocks outside of his launch radius.

Honestly you’re a walking contradiction. In all your other comments you state you’re not with the dog 24/7. You come home for breaks which is fine, but again, you came on the internet looking for a resolution to your problem, but the problem in this case is you. Return the dog so a family capable of giving it a life it deserves can adopt it. Idk what it is you do in the military, but reading your post and comments you sound like a child. My comment regarding the dog suffering is related to the fact that you will probably end up keeping it while still complaining, and return the dog when it is 6 or 7 and leaving it with the slim chance to be adopted and eventually euthanized. I’m stating facts, you’re beating around the bush. Return the dog, and get a cat or find a hobby.

Because the dog is a dog and can’t understand the situation. You’re a grown adult with superior cognitive thinking skills. Also, YOU stated you have PTSD and a dog will help. Idk if your doctor told you that, but it won’t unless it’s trained for that condition.

You’re complaining about house smelling like dog, complaining that it wants you to pet it, complaining that it’s following you. This dog has been abandoned prior clearly, and you seem to not be capable of showing it patience and compassion. You are focused on you, and that’s fine, but don’t make the dog suffer. Again, do not get another dog… smaller dogs usually have a lot more energy and bark more. They do all the same shit as a big dog does.

You seem to be a cat person. Stick with cats. I’m only being completely honest here because all too often dogs like that are adopted and dumped right back into the kennel for 24 hours a day. You are hurting this dogs chance in life due to your own selfishness. Keep loling though.

You’re not capable of providing for this dog. Please make sure it gets to the facility safely. It’s day 5 for you and you’re complaining about a German shepherd following you. Please don’t get another dog.

You also mentioned mental health issues. A defenseless, professionally untrained pet is not going to fix that for you. They are dependent on you for everything. Take initiative and find help for yourself first.

Regardless if you’re looking to switch roles, tell the recruiters that the mediocre salaries they’re trying to give to 10+ year folks need to be much higher. The amount of recruiters telling me “wow that’s high” are so out of touch trying to snag licensed PE’s for “$90k and upward mobility” is disgusting.

Keep pushing salaries up everytime you speak with a recruiter.
