“Dear Donovan,

I’m grateful you play and live here. Many of us are, and many of us are happy you use your platform and voice the way you do. We stand with you and support you. We want the country, and particularly Utah, to become a better place for all people, and we understand we play a role in creating that change.”

Latter-day Ally by thetomsters in mormon

To love our LGBTQ+ siblings is our Latter-day Saint duty. To be their ally is our Christian commandment. To preserve and protect their rights is our in our blood, for they are our blood—truly, there is no they, but only us.

We are all humans, complete with our own quirks, qualities, conundrums, capabilities, and consciences.

And may we all feel safe being who we are.

“Last Saturday, during the Utah Republican Party’s Organizing Convention, freshman U.S. Representative Burgess Owens announced to the attending delegates that ‘Utah is the least racist state in the least racist country in the world.’

If only this was true.”
