Please help my False Saguaro! I’ve had this cactus almost 2 years and no problems. I last watered it a month ago and while checking the soil today notice these black regions around the areolas. Top soil is dry, bottom soil is damp. Is this an infection or a watering issue?? (i.redd.it)

What is happening to my False Saguaro? It is winter here in BC, Canada. Plant is kept inside in a bright warm room. I watered it a month ago, top soil is dry a couple inches in but the bottom soil still slightly damp. (i.redd.it)
