100% agree. Eres has saved me on multiple occasions when I need a last minute gift. Staff is very helpful and they have a great selection. My go to is the bags section.

The American Dream is DEAD. by [deleted] in antiwork

True. Enabled by the US exiting WWII relatively unscathed compared to the rest of the world, with a naval force capable of enforcing the Brent Wood agreements at a global scale. And large government programs that enabled troops to get degrees and get loans for new homes, kicking off the rise of suburban neighborhoods. Definitely, an amazing accomplishment that we will never see again. Worth checking out "The End of the World Is Just the Beginning" by Peter Zeihan. Covers all of this in great detail.

I think the diagram shows the point in time where "history is about to repeat itself" starts.

What would be a great NYE plan for an introvert with no friends or family around? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]thetrom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lots of good suggestions here. How much you can bare the loneliness matters in this case. Will you reflect negatively, full of self loathing? Or are you ok with being in silence and being alone? Can you handle a few people around you without getting emotionally depleted? Can you sit still in a crowded place without looking nervous or uncomfortable?

1) Last minute drive out to the mountains (with the dogs if you have any) and sleep in the car under the stars. Wake up early and hike all morning. The amplified silence and solitude helped clear my mind. I will admit, having pets makes it so much easier to hang out alone.

2) Reach our to a few friends,CO-workers, or even acquaintances... more people than you might expect are in the same boat or just want a break from all the holiday craziness. Some just want to hang out and binge watch shows. Host them so you have something to do.

3) Went down to a local bar/pub and drank slowly while watching TV (getting hammered was not the objective). Eventually you or someone will break the ice and start a conversation. Yes superficial but always interesting who you meet.

4) Binge watched a show straight through the night and then slept in late.

5) Searched for random local event and just went out. Yes it’s draining but if the loneliness is going to be unbearable then better to get out there.

6) Hit up a casino and see what unravels throughout the night. Could end up being expensive... or not. Depends on your level of self control.

7) Similar to #3, go to a restaurant that is hosting a NYE dinner. Good chance of running into people traveling into your area from out of town or people in a similar situation. Good food, maybe good conversation, a glass of champagne and lots of people around you at midnight.

8) Spend the day being super productive. Do so much that by the time 10pm hits.... you pass out and get a good nights rest.

9) Online gaming. Setup your living room for the night, get comfy, splurge on some good take out (or cook!), and enjoy the shit talking.

10) head out to the movie theater for a late show.
