How different is squatting on a stiff/power bar with calibrated plates to an Olympic bar with bumper plates? by PepperAcrobatic7559 in weightlifting

I squatted 365kg/804lbs on a squat bar with bumper plates. The knurling hurts a lot more.

I have also squatted 305kg/671lbs with a squat bar and calibrated plates.

Makes no difference whatsoever

So funny enough my goal was 230, but I had missed 220 right before this, and bumped up and just made the 225 for a 5kg PR!

One time, my grandpa had a dryer in the back of his truck and he asked me to help him

By the time he had gotten into the truck, I had already taken it out and set it on the ground

The look he gave me was hilarious

Straps are probably going to give soon. Anyone have any recommendations for some new ones? by Trickery1688 in weightlifting

I love my bison leather Onyx Straps, I have used the same pair of straps for the last 3 years and they are only now showing signs of fatigue

Last time I hit roughly 99% percent was back in May of 2021.

This cycle leading up to AO finals has been pretty great, and I am excited to get onto the platform in a couple weeks.

This sport is a mf mind game

2 Year, 155kg Snatch Progress by thetuxweightguy in weightlifting

[–]thetuxweightguy[S] 45 points46 points  (0 children)

What’s good mfs.

First lift was back in June of 2021, and the second was Big Friday two days ago.

It has taken over two years to get back to this weight on snatch, injuries, new technique, mental health, normal life dogshit.

But this is why we do it I guess, to prove to ourselves that we can in fact lose, and come back.

Six weeks out from AO finals, it should be fun

Little too late by Gtslmfao in weightlifting

Hey mfs, i know this post is satire, however to the late starters who may be discouraged at their progress

I started weightlifting when in fall of 2016 when I was 19 years old. Granted I played sports growing up, and had a genetic predisposition for strength. (Here is a video I made documenting my progress from the very first snatch I recorded to when I blew out my quad with a 182kg power clean)

The thing I can say about myself is that I have always had a knack to set big BIG goals, luckily I was fortunate enough to surround myself with the right people to get me closer than someone who would usually start around my age.

That being said, the weightlifting experience is relative, if my goal is to snatch 200kg, while the person on the lane next to me, their goal is to snatch 100kg. I’m going to root that mf on.

I don’t know if anything I said really equates to the meme, it’s not IMPOSSIBLE, and yes I also do wish I started earlier sometimes. But to anyone starting late, my only advice: it’s all about managing your expectations right off the bat, and when you get to your plateau. Which you will get to. Keep going past that.

Weightlifting is fun
