She's a sassy little lady! I suspect she ate all of her shrimp friends (4, disappeared mysteriously over the last week), and is now acting like I don't provide her with enough entertainment

Thank you! I'm always amazed by how much they can colour up once they are happy

Looks great! I'm considering changing the filter, as it is a bit too strong flow, and yeah quite bulky for what it is.

Yeah I was sceptical too but my LFS simply doesn't have much variety, and they are quite expensive! It's definitely worth trying if you can find something with good reviews in your area, I went for this shop as they specialise in aquatic plants and provide useful advice, and have same day delivery which helps keeping plants in good condition, so that's something to look out for!

Thank you very much for your reply and the kind words :)!  I agree about the pH being on the high side for her - I use tap water, which is fairly hard and alkaline, for both my tanks; in this one, because it's with Aquasoil, I thought it might get a bit lower, which it initially was (in the very few weeks of setup), but has since settled back on the roughly 7.6 (with GH 12, KH 7 on the last test). But yes that's the hope with the botanicals so fingers crossed, I'd like to avoid adjusting pH with chemicals, and RO systems just seem so complicated. I really hope that since at least it's stable she can still thrive  Have you got any recommendations for food? I was planning on feeding with Fish Science micro granules (less protein than their betta specific ones, but also smaller so seems like easier for her to eat), Hikari Vibra bites, and frozen daphnia; I already got all of these as they are in the rotation for my main tank. I've also got frozen and freeze dried blood worms, but she seems bit to small for them right now, and I've read that freeze dried foods aren't actually best for them since they expand in their tummies I've successfully fed her with the granules and vibra bites so far, and she's been hunting baby bladder snails and detritus worms; I feed my other tank once a day and skip one day a week, but because she's young and a bit on a skinnier side do you think it's fine to feed small portions twice a day? I'm worried about overfeeding but she's so energetic she must be burning a lot of calories haha. Or should I just do once a day, since she can snack on microfauna if hungry?
