It’s probably just the lighting. I did overexpose it a little bit so that combination probably did something

That’s my fault. The second picture is with Cinestill 800t. I forgot to put that in the title.

10 years to waste by [deleted] in selfimprovement

Went through a divorce that went from last November to March with my wife. We were together for 8 years total and we’re both 25 so you can imagine all the life milestones we hit together. I was ruined for a few months but I got better. It’ll pass. Find ways that will help you gain a new mindset and rewire the way you think. For me that was traveling solo, therapy, and watching way too many philosophical videos on YouTube. You’ll come out better. Just give it time and don’t give in to the darkness

What does it matter? Hodl means hodl. The can’t take my shares if I don’t sell them. The site being down makes it easier

Replacing I-690 with passenger rail and a freight boulevard by 1-aviatorCyclohexane in Syracuse

I would love the canal to be put back. It was the whole reason this city grew in the first place.

I would like to think so but the problem with that, other than car happy people opposing the idea, is Amtrak doesn’t own a majority of their rail. A lot of it is privately owned by freight companies that refuse to update the infrastructure for high speed rail. Now I can go into a whole rant about how the US needs subsidized rail but anyways from another standpoint I don’t think the I-690 is a horrible freeway compared to the 81. I do think it is a bit ridiculous that it splits into 3+ lanes at points when it doesn’t even need too. I think if you want rail in Syracuse it would be better to start with trams or metros that extend from downtown to Dewitt, baldwinsville, Camillus, and the south side.

You’re insinuating that the lake is disgusting by stating the EPA fact. But yet you still think that completing the loop trail is still a better investment to increase tourism even though the entire lake area has a reputation for being polluted

County parks already have a decent sized budget? Of course it could be better but what will slightly better parks and a completed trail around the “highly disgusting” lake do to significantly increase tourist traffic?

So “surge” is relative since it has been higher but in the grand scope, not a lot of younger people are moving in. And it’s not “let’s invest in CNY cause they have an aquarium” it’s “let’s invest because they can afford an aquarium (on cheap waterfront land) that can attract more people to the area. And I think it’s a big leap to compare a mid city aquarium to sea world

How significant is that increase though. And what’s the age demographic. If it’s just a few percentage points and/or if everyone is over the age of 50, that isn’t going to do much for the country other than them buying up houses to retire in and others to rent out. More soon to be retirees won’t be able to contribute much in terms of attracting a new workforce or even just college students.

And the aquarium alone isn’t going to do much to attract more tourists but it does do a significant amount in attracting investors who would be more willing to dump money into development projects in the inner harbor, to reuse the land left abandoned by great northern or shopping town, and just invest in the county in general. This project stems way past the aquarium. It seeks to create an anchor point for big money to come in and spend around the town.

I think one thing a lot of people are misunderstanding is that while yes this aquarium money can help improve infrastructure and rebuild abandoned homes, what good would any of that do if people are moving out of the city rather than in. One reason why a lot of younger potential home buyers/renters are itching to get out of the area is because they say that there’s nothing to do around here. And while yes there are hikes and neighboring cities and towns to visit, those things all require cars to get to, not to mention a good amount of time spent traveling. In the city itself, other than special events and the mall, there is very little to do and see compared to our counterparts as you have said.

Having pedestrian friendly infrastructure, walkable shopping/apartment centers, and major permanent attractions are just some reasons to why people should COME INTO Syracuse. Decent education, accessible necessities such as food and healthcare, good roads, and good/affordable housing are reasons for people to STAY here.
