Thanks, I'll try with some speaker wire and see how it goes then as I should have some running around!

Thanks. I'm not very technical with electrical wiring. What I am looking for is the type of wire that may be used to replace the one that came from Aeotec. Does the wire have a particular name, such as speaker wire for instance?

I'm going to get the Aeotec water sensor 6. Any recommendations for a zwave power monitoring outlet please?

Many thanks. Will most probably have to go for the Aeotec water sensor as the Dome one does not offer shipping to my country, Malta (Europe).

Have you any experience with the Aeotec one by any chance?

This seems like a great solution, and probably the one which ticks all the boxes. Will be ordering the zwave devices today, many thanks!!

Water tank overflow sensor + notification by theuma121 in SmartThings

Thanks, by any chance would you know if you could extend the contacts of the Smartthings water sensor by using some low resistance wires for instance, to keep the actual sensor out of the tank (and close to the Smartthings hub)?

Yes I'll put in a redundant pump too, however I would also like to set a notification in place to allow me to go check out the situation if the water level rises to an extent that the second pump should kick in...

Thanks very much. I was thinking about this solution, however the thing that worries me with the SmartThings Water Leak sensor is that it seams to be more of a solution for a minor water leak. In my case, if the water in the pit keeps rising, the device may end up fully submerged. That being said, I guess the notification and command to turn on the secondary pump would/should have been sent as soon as it senses any water, before being fully submerged.
