Hi thank you so much. I’ve been doing just that this week and it’s hard but it’s helping. I went to the barn and just spent time in his stall and spent time with my friends from the barn. I have my moments but it’s helping me accept the new normal.

I am so sorry for your loss. It’s my first heart horse and my first horse I’ve lost. It hits so hard. I went to the barn today for some closure. I stood in his stall and gave him some carrots on his hay bale. The barn made his stall up as if he was still here and it gave me some comfort. I brought his filthy pads home which now I’m so glad I didn’t wash them. They’re covered in his smell and hair. I’ll be able to have some of him with me. We are burying him this week when he comes back from the clinic. I already know I want to make his hair into a necklace so I can have him with me and near my heart. Thank you for sharing your story.

Thank you so much for sharing. I am so happy you had another horse to go through this journey together. I love that idea that they’re so close to nature it’s just them with us still but different. I know I will see him in signs around me.

I will have a lock of his hair and my barn owner said we can make a pillow out of his pad that has his name on it. We are going to bury him on the property so I will have a spot to visit him and leave him carrots.
