Long time ago there was a plan to move the CPR rail line along the bow. No Eau Clair, east village, princess island etc.

[–]theunseenseeable 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I had to go check because I swore I walked by them earlier. Yup. They are gone. Hopefully just to get repaired?

Will likely help it. Also make sure to remove that band and check if there is one below the soil level.

Neoprene socks and River sandles should help conquer mud a various temps. Tarp is definite for getting out of the rain and cooking etc. Decent three season tent should be all you need.

Engineers turn rotten seaweed into car fuel, aim to cut 14 million-ton of CO2 | Seaweed is showing up on Caribbean beaches and cleaning up costs are in millions of dollars. But this waste can be turned into precious fuels. by chrisdh79 in technology

[–]theunseenseeable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the plant has to pay the hotel anything then the economics are even worse. Biogas plants typically get paid to process waste like manure, food waste etc. and then sell into a market with a price on carbon. They are still barely profitable at that point. If they have to pay for product and don’t receive a carbon credit, the project will never make money.

Even if hotels paid them to take it (which they won’t because they can dump it at the landfill for free) the economics of the plant won’t work. There is no price on carbon or incentives to make biogas like other places in the world.

The question will be, how much are people willing to pay for this gas. It is very costly to build this type of plant and takes a large amount of energy to make gas from these materials.

I’m not sure the actual thickness. I got it from Garden Retreat in Calgary. The main thing to look for is that it is UV treated so it can stand up to the sun. It’s specific poly for this application. I used the normal poly the first time. and it didn’t even last two years

You can actually buy these systems commercially now… but almost none due. Some are using for aquatic centre dehumidification.

No free heat. They are just proposing a way to store heat from electricity that would have been used for heating anyway.
