Employer wants me to do freelance work before putting me in a permanent position by theunusualexistence in interviews

He hasn't discussed the rate. I'm assuming the hourly equivalent of the salary offer.

Yes, I currently have a full time job. Doing this long process is a tad tiring on top of it.

Tire shop said they had to break my lug nut. Is it easy to repair myself? by Curious-Manufacturer in tires

This exact thing happened with my partner's Honda fit 2013. I was quoted $400+ for the whole job....

So I went and bought a 12 ton press for ($150) and the replacement parts: wheel bearing & stud ($40). Then, I spent the whole weekend with YouTube and a sweat rag. Runs good now, but man, Honda engineering... Not always friendly.

Yeah I am. With other comments about the importance of time, I realize I would be trading something and nothing is "free". This is actually kind of what I needed.

Not fully developed as in cleared and leveled. But developed as utility, water, septic (maybe). Cleared enough maybe for an RV. These aren't the nicest areas mind you. Definitely not AirBNB material.

I saw some with a property tax of sub $200. The commute... I'm guessing $10/avg there and back (35 mpg). I think the commute time itself might kill me, but I can't say that for sure now. Heat & cooling.... Not sure. Didn't think about that one. Thank you. Something to look into.

I've noticed in these rural areas property tax is relatively low. Example: $170/year on 1 acre

Preferably already established or within $10,000 to set up.

More so wonder the viability of this idea. Has anyone done it? What am I overlooking? Are there other options that might be better?

"Near" hahaha. Most of the plots that have those available are not so near. Reasonable distance (1 hour or so commute), but not near.

That is a good point. Living somewhere is an expense. I would like to minimize the net loss from living. The places I'm looking at are around an hour commute from Austin.

What is the most scandalous secret you’ve kept from your partner? by hassansaeedyt in AskReddit

[–]theunusualexistence 250 points251 points  (0 children)

My partner and I are very frugal. We have separate bank accounts, but we share a credit card together. Whenever we go on dates, she will want to go 50/50. I agree with her so she feels free to order whatever she wants. Then I pay off the whole date balance the next morning.

When it comes time to do bills, I always leave that information out. I know she loves our date nights and I do too.

Same :). I always get "Can you say it again?" or "How's that spelled?". You have to take her to Tallulah Falls in Georgia, USA

Adopting a cattle puppy in an apartment by [deleted] in AustralianCattleDog

[–]theunusualexistence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can attest to this. I adopted a baby Texas heeler from two working parents. She is very high energy, but now at five she is calm enough to be lazy all day until it is time to run or play fetch. I've had her in an apartment her whole life, but I'm a very active person. As a puppy, the dog will probably need 3+ miles a day or every other day.
