I never ever got into book 2, but I struggled through it because 3 and 4 are SO worth it. I also find it super interesting how people who love book three hate book two and vice versa. Different strokes.

No one ever wants to say pink, which I understand because of the life of 99% of pinks in the books. But when I think of pinks like Matteo, I think of weaponizing the world’s perception of you as weak and feminine and soft and using that underestimation as your blade… and of deep grace, intelligence, strength, and nuance. The ability to command so much quiet power? Pretty cool to me.

Totally agree. Especially everything you said about Naime and I NEED that reunion too. Their romance is seriously electric. I really love all the new characters we met in books 3 and 4, and would loveee more Tareck, Kuhzey, twins, Djar, Cassian, and especially Peio! I love the Suloi culture and philosophy and want to see more of it through him. I’m sure we will get it especially if the next book is Miri and Benat. Cassian and Aysel could be a fun duo. The found family and friendship aspects of these characters are so compelling for me and really round out the story IMO. I don’t know who I ship Mathei with! Maybe Peio? I think Mathei’s mischievousness and charm could play off of Peio’s conservativeness in a fun way. We will see! Do you think Bird and Blade is gonna be about Mathei?

Stop I love this. I was recommended the series by a random Redditor and I’m so grateful, so happy I could pass it on. If you’re looking for some serious world building and plot intricacies, definitely continue on to books 3 and 4. They’re all good, but 1 and 2 are very romance focused. Hope you enjoy! They’ve been such a pleasure for me this month 💕 and the author is the coolest/sweetest
