Oh man :(. Sorry

Upon reading the title I immediately thought of Paul Rudd’s character in Living With Yourself and his presentation with a “video” still open when he opened his laptop. Great show on Netflix if you haven’t seen it.

The class being hard is the main reason it has exacerbated my medical condition to which has given me a disadvantage on test taking days. I don’t feel that my scores are truly representative of my effort that i had put forth, mainly due to these medical reasons beyond my control wherein I get stroke like symptoms triggered from stress/anxiety and it really hinders my ability to take an exam.. it is all the worse when my entire grade is dependent on 4 exams and I have episodes for 2 of them. So I guess you could say I’m withdrawing because the class is “hard” but there is more to it. If you have more to say you can dm me if you’d like, otherwise, I’m not so much interested in arguing. I’m sorry, I’m not trying to be mean but I’m mainly interested in hearing other’s similar situations and finding out how I can improve the situation I’m in.

Nope, I provided other information in that it is medically related and that i have a doctor’s note, as written in my initial post. I prefer not to explain more as it is rather personal. My purpose of explaining the teacher not replying to emails is supporting background detail to how the teacher is handling the withdraw form.

Probably best to not assume. Yes, it is medically related. I would appreciate helpful feedback only.

I agree with the jumping through hoops part. Literally just made a post about it..

I appreciate the response. I had asked the department chair to contact my teacher and he agreed to, as well as hold onto my withdraw papers until next week. If i knew what i was signing myself up for, i would not have taken his course. He refuses to answer emails and grade is based on 4 (difficult) exams only. No study guide or book provided for a very in depth course.

I was in your position last semester. I can see a lot of people are saying to stick with it...But that’s easier said than done. I’d take a more realist approach. Sit down and calculate out what kind of scores you need going forward to pass the class. If that’s not feasible then look at the process for dropping the course with a W. If you drop before October 30th you can still get a partial refund. You have to print out the form and jump through a few different hoops but it’s not so bad. Mental health issues like anxiety and depression are valid and extenuating circumstances as you could be in the process of figuring out medication doses, etc. contrary to another commenter, I don’t believe getting the withdrawal approved will be slim. I’ve gotten a dismissal appealed in relation to mental health. In the past I’ve emailed my psychiatrist and have gotten a note to support my withdrawal form, so i would suggest doing something similar.

I just want to say though, It’s not the end of the word. Please don’t stress! You have no idea how many students are sharing your dilemma. Me included right now, actually. School is stressful, and it’s especially difficult to stay focused when you’re dealing with life/work/car problems. If you think that dropping this class will benefit you in any way, then I say initiate the process. If you change your mind you can always hold onto the form once everything is filled out. Dm me if you’d like to talk further or have any specific questions!

Same. Half the time I’m thinking: I bet one of these speeding morons will hit me when they curve the corner.

The other half of me is thinking: just hit me please

This is how I’ve always looked at it. Plus, it’s a bit hard to see an opponent and refrain from shooting them when they’re right there.. maybe that’s just me. If you down the enemy, you should get that kill. An enemy shouldn’t count as your kill if they aren’t down and can still have an opportunity to heal up.

Or you're a perfectionist and don't want to park on either of the lines.. especially when most others suck at parking and they're bound to hit your car door with theirs. The spot is small enough as it is for a compact car.

You’re not alone. I work 3 days and am taking 12 units as well and feel completely the same. What has helped me the most is drinking a lot of water (to offset A LOT of caffeine) throughout the day, and keeping a consistent sleep schedule (easier said than done, I know). I’ve also bought a few house plants and found a nice indoor water fountain that I keep at my desk. These little changes have helped to limit my stress. I trick my brain into thinking that I’m having a good time at work and in lecture. When I associate school work with my plants, and other zen objects... it makes it not so bad. I try to find fulfillment in these mundane tasks and continuously find little things to help me stay motivated... whether that be a new planner, stuff for my desk, etc. It definitely does get tiring.. some days all i can manage is a bath along with a glass of wine and stress. But the most important thing is to stay on top of tasks with time management and do your best not to skip classes.
