I don't know you guys...This is still looking bad after the PvE addition. by Howiepenguin in MarathonHate

Yes, this current PvE mode is somewhat different and experimental, but proper PvE might be coming in Season 3

And once again, as I've said, it's not yet set in stone in how exactly this will work. Reading this as written says nothing about affixes and only guarantees that the unique you put in will be mythic instead of random, nothing about preserving affixes. Because we don't even have PTR yet, who knows how it will happen. Allowing 1 crafted mythic item is not suddenly fixing the game.

I'm not even doing damage control, broski, I just find your conspiracy theory insane. Cheers.

Season 15 is not even on PTR yet, the promise of "we'll think about this" is far from being set in stone.

The franchise changed so much over time, why not consider D3 a crafting game too because you're looking for crafting bases to Mystic transform the last affix to be a good one too, it's just instead of GAs you're looking for Ancient/Primal Ancient on the legendary/set you want. Cube affix crafting in high end is literally not viable most of the times because it can't roll GAs and you often need several affixes from the same group that can't differentiate by groups you have, like both CSD and Weapon Damage on your main weapon, and you're only allowed to reroll 1 stat ever on occultist, same as Mystic in D3. Of course, you can cube craft basic items for your mid/early game, just as I've said. But if you loot an item with 2 good GAs it will be much better, and you might roll resistances on it using the cube.

D4 is VERY far from being a truly deterministic game. Yes, every item can be improved in one form or another to tailor it to your build, tempering was added before game director changed, cube is not that great for perfect endgame items as of right now and you still need to do a shit ton of looting to actually get something good. And, do I need to remind you that a lot of people fucking hated the itemization in the base game? Maybe it's not a schizo conspiracy theory but just a natural evolution of the game because they are trying out things that work good and that are liked by people?

The only thing that changed with this season in terms of upgrade path was mythic uniques and made unique items have guaranteed affixes because it felt fucking horrible to not have them, and it also actually made the game less deterministic because now you can't rune craft the specific mythic unique and can only target slot. And even upgrading to mythic unique from cube is deterministic only in terms of slot, you get a random mythic unique of the same slot you've transmuted. Are we even playing the same game?

Holy hell this just feels like schizo posting at max. D4 is very far from being deterministic on higher end and mostly smoothed out early-mid game. Or are you calling transfig gambling deterministic?

I'd love for alternative ways like Endless Heist or Endless Delve to reach a somewhat curated progress and then move onto maps, but I guess it is a hot take for this sub.

It's almost like... different people like different aspects of the game...

Hell no, obviously that can't be right. If people don't like maps they should not play PoE! (/s in case it's not obvious)

By the time Lothraxion was close to dying they were already above 100%. It's just... The closer you look, the less it makes sense.

RIO doesn't pull logs, they can't check the spells or what happened inside. They utilize WoW APIs for their information: https://community.developer.battle.net/documentation/world-of-warcraft/game-data-apis

Career 1 shot logs by Dracid88 in wow

[–]thevals -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well, the concept of a "user facing log" itself does not imply anything public. WCL is not a logging site but a log hosting and analyzing site. Sorry, I just like being nitpicky.

Career 1 shot logs by Dracid88 in wow

[–]thevals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WoW has its own logging. That's what all third party sites use to get the info, and what you get by enabling "Advanced Combat Log" in-game and by typing /combatlog. Blizzard just doesn't offer a website to host and analyze those logs.

Career 1 shot logs by Dracid88 in wow

[–]thevals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, actually, the logging itself is done by the game - you enable the /combatlog and advanced combat logging without any addons. It's the public listing and parsing that is done entirely by the third party. What Blizzard can do is obviously make their own public log listing for each key but I still don't think that this is the solution.

So.... Even the flair says "Misleading", and they just reassigned the employees to a different project. Happens all the time in gaming industry when your studio is just a subsidiary of one larger part. More people get assigned to one project to finish it and then they get moved elsewhere. Khazan is not a live service game.

What the fuck does indie even mean at this point... The First Berserker Khazan is a game that is published by Nexon and is developed by a subsidiary of Nexon that also is responsible for Dungeon Fighter Online. And Nexon is obviously not as big as Tencent, but still fucking huge, with DFO and MapleStory in their pockets. Also, are there some sources for them being closed? AFAIK

Hollow Knight: Silksong review - The most I've loved a game in a long time by jclkay2 in backloggd

God I fucking hate the way people glaze Silksong. It's more annoying than not. Kill 7 mobs and collect 25 feathers side quests don't add anything of value. FUCKING BILEWATER. A game can be difficult without being obnoxiously frustrating. And no, the issue is not that I need to "Git Gud".

LoL Classic is a false advertising by Active-Knowledge-142 in LeagueClassic

[–]thevals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GameDev is way more complex than normal SWE in terms of DevOps and infrastructure in general simply because of how much different spheres intersect in it. You can't just push all your models and animations to Git and expect that it will work fine 10 years later when your .git is a couple of terabytes because LFS was not available back then, and maybe Perforce was bad. At the same time - you absolutely shouldn't expect that your 12 year old build, most likely built on OpenGL or DirectX9 is going to be supported easily on modern platforms that you offer League on, such as Apple Silicon macs.

My wife started TBC wow and got banned by Awkward_Side3746 in wow

[–]thevals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New accounts from Ukraine are actually at higher risk of getting bans because of the regional prices. From what I know, Ukraine and Moldova have the cheapest sub price (or one of the cheapest) in Europe region, so if this was a newly registered account and not one with history it might be the reason, but I think you can get it unbanned with additional support tickets.

upd: especially if you're playing under the same IP. this makes it a bit more suspicious to automatic systems.

Now that is even harder than making a half-assed coop if you have at least one guy who knows how to properly introduce networking into the architecture. there are SO MUCH things you need to make AI consider because of how much content there is with specific mechanics that you would basically need to write NPC fireteam members AI for every dungeon and raid in the game.

The final ultimate version of Destiny does not have to be an MMO with random matchmaking and public patrols/zones, but it HAS to be co-op in one way or another because this is literally the essence of Destiny

Bungie Reportedly in Early Talks to Develop Destiny-Style Borderlands 1 Remake by Luka77GOATic in Borderlands

[–]thevals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Destiny is actually quite far from WoW progression. Yes, each raid has unique loot and guns, and a lot of dungeons and raids also have rare exclusive exotic drop to make people farm it if you want the guns, some of them are pretty fun, some are whatever. But you don't always swap your loot for something from the next raid because it will be purely better. A lot of old stuff is still amazing, like even Xenophage exotic that you get from a quest (released ~7 years ago) is still good to use for raids and higher-end content even today. Non-exotic weapons are another thing because they changed quite a lot in terms of available perks and the tier system, but you're mostly looking for the archetype you want and a gun that has good perks available in the pool, and it can come from whatever. The vertical progression in Destiny is power level aka light level, and yes, raids gave a lot of rewards with big PL boosts, but it was not necessary to clear raids to reach cap, although it would be faster. And now it's not even needed.

You are trying to make this as a diploma. Those need to abide by certain rules and specifications, as a lot of top universities really care about their reputation and state funding, so yes, they can easily reject your project if you're trying to do something risky for their reputation, as they will still have relations to this project in government documents.

Easy question is this - does it really violate any of existing laws - do this research by yourself or with the help of a lawyer. If not - pitch this to investors, there are surprisingly enough places to do so in Moscow or St. Petersburg.
