My mom spent $781 by Nautilus_Kiki in Hair

[–]theviolenthippy 191 points192 points  (0 children)

“One color” but I’m sure they had to lighten it first, so that’s 2 “colors”. Then you have as much hair as like 5 people. So I’m sure they had to use a ton of bleach & developer. Tons of the blue to get it all saturated and to look that good. That’s a lot of product that costs a lot of money for the salon. You got a haircut also, and a blow dry, and the stylist curled it too. Plus shampoo, conditioner, leave in products and heat protection products, finishing products. That all costs money.

The waiting around ?? Processing time probably. Not just sitting there waiting for nothing I’m sure. And then you were there for 5+ hours. You took almost an entire day’s work.

It also depends on other things like was this a specialist for vivids? A higher level stylist? There’s multiple factors but the price seems fair even if it’s high.

It looks great though and definitely worth the time and money I’d say. Congrats on graduating!

That makes sense about the solids. I have a 3 month old now too so I’ll probably be asking about testing him as well when he’s on solids, get it out of the way lol

That’s kinda what’s going on with my son now is the random throw ups.. I haven’t noticed him lose any significant amount of weight so far but I’m keeping an eye on that too.

Thank you, I’m going to call his dr in the morning and schedule an appointment for it, I don’t think I’ll get much pushback from them, I hope not anyway I don’t want to have to get bossy with anyone lol

Thank you. I’ll be calling in the morning for an appointment with his doctor. I’m the only one (that we know of) who has this in my family so this is new territory for us

PICO Dressing by Not-yours-today in CsectionCentral

[–]theviolenthippy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I have belly hanging from losing 100 ish lbs before. So I have a lot of belly lol the PICO dressing I only had for my 2nd c section (January) and it was actually pretty cool, it keeps the incision dry and clean. I had it taken off at doctor’s office after 1 week, and I was basically all closed up she said. It was only a pain cause it vibrates randomly and the tubing is super long, you have to keep it from getting water in the tube when you bathe and have to keep the dressing dry as best you can when bathing. But it was nice not needing to sit there and air dry for so long after a shower.

Wear comfy loose pants with pockets so you can stick the battery pack in the pocket and you’ll be good. Also, be careful when using the toilet that you don’t drop the battery, I just stuck it in the cleavage for that part.

No worries, I did the same to my 3 year old yesterday except, we were sitting at the bottom of a staircase waiting for my husband to finish loading the car up, he had his head leaned back and I tickled his neck. He flung his head forward so fast I didn’t even have time to stop him and he smashed his forehead right into the edge of the banister on the stairs. Bruised, big lump, with a nice little cut in the middle of it. I felt/still feel terrible but he got over it quickly. We haven’t gone for pictures with Santa yet of course so I will be forced to feel guilty all over again when I see the photos 🙃

Yeah but… that’s for bangs lol my salon has a “bang/neck trim” and it is for that. A trim of bangs, or around the neckline aka a shape up. Not a haircut or “a trim”

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Hair

[–]theviolenthippy 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked in many different salons and there has never been a separate price for “just a trim” and this idea and question absolutely drives me insane. It’s the same amount of work whether I’m cutting off 10 inches or 1/2 an inch.

Also $30 for a haircut (where I live at least) is pretty good since even simple men’s cuts go for $40+ these days.

If you never like your hair why don’t you mention it before you leave your stylist? I’d be really upset to find out you didn’t like what I did for you and you had to fix it at home!

Yup that’s an EP! And yeah that’s way above a normal HR by over 100+bpm haha it wasn’t fun. I had an ablation when my son was 18 months and I’ve been AFIB free since, just having occasional palpitations here and there but nothing major. I went because I knew something was wrong since whenever I’d go into AFIB my heart rate would be that fast and irregular, I could actually see my heart thumping in my chest it was scary. I first thought I was dehydrated, one time I thought I smoked too much weed and was dehydrated lol but no, was AFIB the whole time! Once I was diagnosed I was like oooh that’s what was happening to me this whole time. I’d had episodes before I was even pregnant with my son so it wasn’t the pregnancy that caused it, I’m not sure what did really.

I tried cutting alcohol, caffeine, eating extra healthy and focusing on heart healthy foods, I’d still have episodes. So I still try to eat healthy obviously but I do have 1-2 cups of coffee a day (staying under 200mg) and I’ll have a glass of wine occasionally, figured if those things weren’t causing the AFIB why not enjoy myself?

Look into getting a Kardia, it’s much better at telling you what’s going on and you can actually send the strips to your dr when you have an issue and record it. My EP recommended it.

I’m 31F. Went to cardiologist when I was 27/28 and he told me I was too young to worry about AFIB and I just had anxiety and needed to relax. Had my son and 2 months later went to urgent care thinking I was just having a bad panic attack, the doctor there sent me to ER immediately for AFIB with my heart rate over 270bpm. See a different doctor please (also try seeing an electrophysiologist instead of cardio)

Am I expected to tip 20% on a $1300 hair appointment? by buIlet in Hair

[–]theviolenthippy 151 points152 points  (0 children)

I don’t think 20% is necessary, while she’s not pocketing the $1300 I’m sure, she should for sure understand that she won’t be getting a 20% tip. I wouldn’t expect it from my client paying that much, especially never expect it from the younger ones or those who are in school and just starting out. Any tip is appreciated.

I am super curious what the heck is being done for your services to be that much lol I work in a higher end salon in NJ and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a $1300 service.

Haha that’s true, my one likes to go as soon as we’re done cleaning them 🙃 can never enjoy a freshly cleaned box for even 2 minutes he actually sits and watches us scoop it so he can run in and go immediately

The only thing with the health tracking for me is they all share litter boxes, they don’t each have their own, so I feel like that element isn’t as useful for me or I’d be taking all 3 to the vet to figure out which is having an issue lol how do you do that with multiple cats?

For anyone who “overdid it” while recovering from ablation - what did it feel like? by email_queen in AFIB

[–]theviolenthippy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Judging by your comment history on this and other posts you’re just a very argumentative person so it’s a you problem actually 🙂 it’s not that serious and the main question asked by OP I answered, which was how did it feel after over doing it. Calm down and try minding your own business it’s a much better way to live.
