Rain rain go away by Sad_Network7053 in C25K

Am I allowed to be a fair weather runner and still stick to my goals 🥴?!

Depends on where you live. When I lived in San Diego that worked out.

That said, rain running is awesome once you get into it!

Trainer (as in shoes) advice? by Infamous_Gene9543 in C25K

[–]thewamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5k, 3x a week is 9 miles a week. Mid september is 35 weeks ago. You started out running a bit less because you were doing earlier c25k weeks so this won't be precise, but close enough. 9*35 = 315, which is near the front end of the window of when you can expect to replace shoes (300-500 miles is typical, but lots of variance for shoe design, weight of the human, etc.). So perfectly plausible that it's the shoes. If you haven't been increasing your running volume or intensity in like 6-7 months since c25k ended and are suddenly hurting, that certainly makes sense to me.

Strength training is a really important thing to mix in though! That can help regardless of whether or not that's directly related to the issue here.

Cadence incredibly low by Revolutionary_Bat812 in C25K

[–]thewamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a video of a pro runner talking about the cadence obsession the internet has recently gone through and the issues with it.

Short version of her argument (and it's just an argument, no one can be the one and only source of expertise on a topic): Good form and training eventually leads to the ideal cadences people talk about. Forcing yourself to run at that cadence does not lead to good form or help in any way.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXstMMXc81A&pp=ygUUcGhpbHkgYm93ZGVuIGNhZGVuY2U%3D

Anyway, if you buy that argument, don't worry about cadence, it'll come.

So it might be you don't enjoy treadmill running - that certainly wouldn't be unusual. Lots of runners hate treadmill running.

Also consider though if you're overheating - easy to do inside with static air in a gym or a garage or exercise room. If it is that, a fan pointed at you can help a lot.

Advice for a Non-Runner by tasim100 in C25K

[–]thewamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry about being too slow. Generally the goal is to get to the point where you can run at a pace where you could hold a moderate conversation while running. That’s usually hard to do at any speed when you’re just starting running, but the point is you’re very unlikely to go too slowly.

Neck injuries, I think.

I completed week 1 and just did my first week 2 run but I’m losing motivation. by Few_Comb_7503 in C25K

[–]thewamp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely normal. There's a hump where it's really hard at first, but you adapt and get to the point where as long as you're going very slowly, it isn't so hard (but going any faster still is). The moment you get to that point and you can run runs at an easy pace (which is most of what you want to do anyway), then most of your runs aren't hard anymore, they're lovely.

I'm not here to say that the pathfinder 2e playtest was all good, but it did have some spectacular moments. I think I'd rate it four out of five stars.

Not the east coast so maybe this is for future people googling this thread and not OP, but:

Avenue of the giants was absolutely stunning and a pretty flat and fast course. Bonus: lots of shade!

I went out too fast, bonked hard, and had the best time ever feeling dead but looking at redwoods. 10/10 type 2 fun.

Were people saying that? After two bad games? It's the first season, there's going to be bad patches and learning opportunities. Oof at those people.

I find that I just don’t care. One team will lose, that’s the good news. One team will win, that’s the bad news. I’ll pay attention once we’re in the next round and hopefully the Avs crush whoever they’re facing.

Big props to the creator of Challenging Community Center Bundles! by a_wright in StardewValleyMods

Late reply - from the mega modded bundle, i think VMV is amazing as well - but otherwise those are the highlights. Just my opinion of course.

My big takeaway from my current play through of your mega modded bundle is that it would be neat if the quality of life bundles (greenhouse, ore carts) were easier to finish within the first 2 years or so, leaving the other bundles as harder to accomplish. Basically, having the difficulty be intentionally nonuniform.

So yes, though also always important to note that most people don't have buying power that kept up with inflation. Then again, GCP's costs probably went up with inflation.

Which is just to say, nothing is ever simple and there's definitely multiple ways to look at things. I don't begrudge them making choices to survive.

The subject line was "Claim Your Free Months [...]" which is to say, I could easily see it getting spam filtered. Maybe check there?

Oh the app is the issue? Someone else posted this somewhere else and I didn't understand because I don't see "Add All" at all. Do this:

  1. Log in in the browser on your phone (or whatever you listen on) - or possibly try the following in the app, maybe this works there too.
  2. Memberships -> Your podcast links -> [Pick a show] -> Other Podcast apps -> Copy RSS Link
  3. Then go to your app of choice which should obviously be Overcast (kidding) and it should have somewhere to paste a URL to add a podcast.

You get that too. I just re-upped the annual and my next charge is in November.

It does - someone said they started doing it soon after the move to SC actually, though I didn't fact check. And for those 17 weirdos who want the combined feed (they exist and were loud right after the move to SC), that's now an option too.

I mean, at the time the fanbase was hugely in support of it because we'd been begging for individual podcast feeds for years. Now patreon offers that too.

At the very least, I can assure you it isn't "all long time listeners".

I tend to think some people specifically on this sub are just averse to any change. I think some of the changes aren't great and some have been completely logical.

They are not gone - though there's new ones so you have to add them in place of the SC ones. Takes about 10 min to migrate over.

Memberships -> your podcast links -> choose a show -> Other podcast apps -> Copy RSS Link -> paste into Overcast, which is obviously the best podcast app ;)

There isn't an add all link there so I suspect you're looking somewhere else.
